I didn't like the way that is was written. Especially compared with the other books in the series.
Sager is the queen of plot twists. However, this book had a few too many. A lot of the twists were very random and just seemed like weird coincidences. I think the twists made the book a little less thrilling. However, many of the plot twists were excellent and well-written. I wish this author would write characters that are a little less pathetic. All of her female main characters, at least in the books I've read so far, are very sad and don't have much to live for. It makes it difficult for me to care about them while reading. Although not being attached to characters does make me more invested in the mystery.
I thought the book was good, I enjoyed the characters and I liked that the Mc was older. I definitely wouldn't consider it a thriller novel, just a mystery with very little shock factor, but it was relaxing and an easy book to follow along with.
I loved this book so much. It's the first book I've read since ACOTAR that I've been this enraptured with. I think the characters are fantastic. I actually like the main character. Xaden oh my gosh. I love it so much. I can't wait to read the next one. Rebecca Yarros is an incredibly talented author and I seriously loved this book.
