Whaaat a rollercoaster of emotions this book was! I was honestly not convinced after the first book in the series, but THIS BOOK!!! I have not had a true 5 star read in years, and this finally did it for me. This book to the adult me is what the Twilight series were to the teenage me.
I was holding off of ACOTAR for the longest time, but you know what, I actually got into it. I'm not a huge romance/fantasy reader and this is not the best piece of literature out there, but the storyline, the world and the characters ended up gripping me and I see myself finishing the entire series.
What a finale! After the second book I thought I knew where the last book would go, but I was wrong. This one had me sobbing, crying & at the edge of my seat for most of the ride! chef's kiss 👌
I was sobbing at the end - it has been a while since a book has been able to do this to me 👌 Definitely an unexpected twist, even if one of the reviews here spoiled it a bit for me 🙄
Really engaging murder-mystery, great build up, believable characters and well- rounded storyline! There wasn't a single boring moment or meaningless filler👌
The only reason this isn't a 5⭐ is that at a few points the actions of some of the characters wasn't fully believable, like I just couldn't buy it that someone would do or say certain things.
But overall, a great thriller, I would recommend this to anyone!
Honestly? Meh. Only at the 90% mark the big twist was finally revealed, but up until then I was bored, often cringing at most of the male characters in the book and waiting for something substantial to happen.
The twist was alright, but I am not going to be thinking about or recommending this book to anyone, really.
In the beginning I was super pumped by this book and then.. Knox happened deep sigh so the book took a turn I neither cared for nor expected, such a sudden misstep of the greatness it could have been. The ending saved it but the girl-obsession part very much ruined it.
A really good book and series for anyone looking for that dystopian, survival, post-apocalyptic type of a read. Hugh Howey builds a pretty convincing universe, the story being told in slightly unexpected ways, but I cannot disclose anymore without spoilers! This is something I would consider re-reading in the future too.
