This is a very cute books about flowers, their uses, and fairies. There are beautiful illustrations on each page. This is a nice little book for all ages!
This was a beautifully written story of two sisters navigating their diverging paths and grief their shared grief. A lovely portrait of two sisters.
I received this book in an OwlCrate Box for Christmas, and oh man... this honestly isn't a book I would have picked out for myself, but I loved it. The characters, plot, and everything were just incredible. The twists and turns were so surprising, and I didn't know whether to trust/like August or Vincent through most of the book! I loved all the characters and the sister dynamic between Myra and Lucy.
I found myself relating to Myra, Lucy, and August throughout, and just really enjoyed reading it!
I just love these wholesome, sweet, and beautiful graphic novels! Who wouldn't like to have a cat sized dragon to take care of?!?!
I read this book because a friend recommended it to me, even though I am not super into si-fy. I am so glad she did recommend this book, because I absolutely loved it! The world-building, characters, and technology described throughout was incredibly detailed and very interesting. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is completely unlike anything I've ever read, and it has earned a spot in my favorites!
(Ari, you're the best for recommending this book!)
The Daughters of Ys was a very interesting graphic novel. I enjoyed reading it and am a huge fan of the art style! As an avid reader of mythology/folklore, I found it interesting that this was based on an old folktale, as I was unaware of that when I picked up this book.
All in all, this was an enjoyable read. But be aware that there are some dark themes/graphic elements that younger teens or preteens might not need to see.
This was a very nice, short children's book about Walt Whitman. The illustrations are stunning, not a surprise from Selznick
I love this series! It's just adorable and so wholesome while still touching on deeper topics. Great series!
Wildfire was a really great book! It took me less than a full afternoon to read and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was just a really well written books! I kept thinking about Lost On A Mountain In Maine, just because it is a teen lost in a similar situation. 10/10 Great book!
Wilder Girls was not what I expected.
The premise of this story is a group of girls in quarantine on Raxter. Raxter is a school for girls that contract something that makes them other. Something that makes the animals of the island other. The way that Rory Power wrote with was incredible. I have never read anything like this before, but I am so glad I finally got to it! There were parts that just about killed me. Then when Hetty and Reese sneak out... Man. I was holding my breath the whole time!
All in all this was a great book! Someones comment called it a Feminist horror story and they were dead on.
Daisy Jones And The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a wonderful, emotional, funny, and heartbreaking story of a fictional band in the 70s. It was powerfully written and at times you love and hate the characters. The way that these characters were brought to life is incredible.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the full cast element, it was like listening to real people talking about their ‘glory days' as a band.
‘Romanov' by Nadine Brandes was a great book. I listened to the audiobook and absolutely love the way the narrator read it.
This book is action-packed, emotional, funny, and brave. As someone who has been interested in the lives of the Romanov family, and has read many other books about them, I was doubtful going into this book that I would like it. I was afraid that adding the element of magic and spell masters would overshadow the real events that the Romanovs faced in their last years. The way that Nadine wove the true events with magic and spells was breathtaking. The magical aspect didn't take anything away from the story and made it a great read.
While I normally steer clear of romance, the relationships within this story were beautifully crafted.
I highly recommend that anyone who is interested in Russian history or the Romanov family read this asap.
There are only two words that can truly express how good this book is. Absolutely Incredible.
This was the first mystery/thriller I have read and I really enjoyed it! I got about half way through in a few sessions, then once I hit that halfway mark I read the rest in 3 hours. I only read this book because my library chose this for the book club book, but I'm glad I read it! 10/10
Amazing. This book has quickly become one of my new faves. It is fast paced, with fierce, strong and brave girls. The main character is one of my favorites now and there were amazing and naturally progressing character arcs. I will 100% be rereading this book and I can not wait for the next installment!
This was a very sweet graphic novel! I loved the art style, and the idea of cat sized dragons is literally a dream! I recommend this series to anyone looking for adorable dragons!
This was a very sweet and beautiful graphic novel! The story was sweet, funny, and serious, and the art style is really beautiful.
I read this short story collection for a women's literature class but have been wanting to read it for a few years now. This was my first venture into horror, but I did enjoy it. It was very well written and some of the stories really took an unexpected turn. I genuinely enjoyed reading Her Body and Other Parties!
This was a good short story, I just wish that it was longer, I would love to find out more about Lazarus.
This was an incredible book! Taking the stories of different Russian women during WWII was a great idea and Svetlana Alexievich perfectly captured the stories of these heros! A genuinely phenomenal non-fiction book!
Night Witches was a stunning historical fiction book. I have read other books by Kathryn Lasky and have yet to be disappointed by her work! This book has been on my tbr for years and I am so happy that I finally picked it up.
Valya and her sister have a very realistic relationship. And the fact that Valya develops sisterly relationships with her fellow witches is great.
This book was truly gripping and I really enjoyed reading it. I have read other historical fiction books set during WWII but this was the first one I've read that showed the perspective of a Russian/Soviet person.
10/10, really great!
