Excellent! Riggs does a great job of making the mythology of the peculiars interesting and has created characters that I am very invested in.
Excellent! I enjoyed the abundance of Bobbie Draper, learning more about Naomi and her past with Marco and Filip, along with Amos's ‘adventures' on a newly devastated Earth.
This series is excellent sci-fi.
4.5 * It was difficult to put down; compelling characters, well written, action combined with character introspection and the introduction of a powerful, frightening force.
While I found the story deliciously strange and compelling, it was Davis's beautiful prose that really drew me in. Duplex is a book like no other.
It's a beautifully written roller coaster ride of a novel, thoughtful and full of passion and intensity. The characters are complex, intetesting and so very human. The battles, both huge and small, are brutal, violent and breathtaking. I love this book.
Incredibly visceral and intense ; Darrow is such a wonderful, conflicted, complicated mess and this second installment of the Red Rising trilogy is full of twists, betrayals and battles, love, hate, agony and joy. It is an excellent read.
Three and a half stars. Some interesting ideas. The writing seemed off sometimes and irritated me. But overall it's fine. Curious to see where the second book goes, so Shannon did something right.
Well, that was weird.....compelling for the most part.....but weird. Murder and violence aside, Lindqvist paints a vivid portrait of the adolescent outsider.
4.5 *
Very good read. I love the idea of roaming cities devouring other cities for supplies in this future, steampunkish earth.
Reeve is certainly not afraid to kill off characters we develop affection for, leaving us with just Tom and Hester remaining for the next adventure.
I'm looking forward to reading book 2 in the series and learning more about the world of hungry cities.
4 1/2 *. Such a wonderfully written story full of heartache, tragedy along with moments of joy. I look forward to the final book in this trilogy.
I didn't like any of the characters and especially disliked Mike Havel, one of the main protagonists. I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it was all those annoying internal observations he made.
The whole Wiccan angle was annoying too......maybe because of Juniper.
I was not drawn in emotionally at all and also found the writing itself of mediocre quality.
Too bad; I had high hopes for Dies the Fire.
4.5 *.......excellent book. Julia's story was especially compelling and it was good to see Quentin mature.
