Charles saves baby Sophie after a shipwreck and adopts her. But as Sophie grows older, she is more and more sure that her mother was not killed in the wreck. Finally, Charles and Sophie travel to Paris, led there by a clue left in the cello case in which Sophie was found after the wreck. There Sophie meets Matteo, a rooftopper, and he helps Sophie in her search for her mother.

Rooftoppers is surprising, clever, and fun. I like books that are surprising, clever, and fun. You probably will, too.

Completely winsome in almost every way. My only minor complaint is I felt the ending was a bit rushed. This is the type of book I would have devoured over and over as a child. 4 cellos out of 5.
