A delightful retelling of the love story of psyche and Eros, beautiful and tragic like all the Greek myths but with a unique plot twist. The writing is beautiful, very poetic and a pleasure to read. I'm not much of a fan of the erotic stuff and there was a lot of it, I found a lot of the middle portion of the book a bit of drag, and a little unnecessary. Overall It is an enjoyable book, but I think it should be listed as romance/erotic fantasy.
Thank you NetGalley and the author for an advanced copy
This book took me totally by surprise, I've never felt so deceived by a title and cover! It is dark, and bizarre and intriguing, and definitely not for the feint hearted. A unique and interesting story, but I got a bit frustrated with the feeling that I'd missed parts of the story somewhere and there were some unanswered questions that will forever bug me!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

Maggie's life is turned upside down after her husband takes his own life, and she is immediately thrown into an action packed and wild adventure that see's her fighting not only for her own survival but to seek the truth and to solve the mystery that her husband has left for her.
One thing I can say is that there is definitely no lack of action in this one, it is a wild ride! Maybe, maybe just a little too wild. I would have personally enjoyed a little more character development, I felt no great love for the heroin and actually I found her quite frustrating and didn't feel like all of her actions were a good reflection of someone who has just lost their husband of many years.
In the end, I thought the book was ok, it's an easy read and fast paced but I have much preferred Robert Bryndza's Erika Foster series to this stand alone.
Many thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for the arc in exchange for this review
I was beyond excited when I received this copy from NetGalley, Karin Slaughter never disappoints! This book was everything I expected, Sara and Will are both individually fascinating characters who I've followed since the beginning of both The Grant County and Will Trent series and I cannot recommend them enough. After That Night is heavy, emotional, raw and brilliantly written. I enjoyed the storyline, going back to “that night” and I can't wait to see where the series will take us next.
This whole book felt like a super twisty, dizzying and slightly creepy game of Cluedo. I enjoyed it, a lot.
It kept me on my toes, made me believe I'd figured out “who did it” only to be proven wrong time and time again. Admittedly, there were a few parts that were predictable, I could definitely see where elements of the story were leading BUT there was so much more than I expected and I loved how it concluded. This was my first Riley Sager book, and I know I'll be picking up another one soon.

Thanks to NetGalley and to the author for giving me the chance to read and review this book.
I really enjoyed the raw and beautifully written narrative style told from the viewpoint of John Church as he takes us through his life, relationships and involvement in the Vere Street Molly house. A true eye opening and thought provoking piece of historical fiction, and of the possibility of forbidden love in an unaccepting and violent society.
A wonderfully written retelling of Hera and how she came to be the wife of Zeus and Goddess of marriage. There are a lot more myths intertwined in the novel so that at times it's more like the story of Olympus, and is a lot of information in a fairly short book. That does take away a little from getting to know and connect with Hera, I've enjoyed the character building more in Jennifer Saints other retellings. But Hera's story is so much bigger it's probably not fair to compare them. Overall, although not my favourite retelling, it's really worth the read and I'll certainly buy a copy for my shelf.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the author for the advanced copy
I really enjoyed this book, although Lisbeth (and Mikael) have lost some of their original depth since they were first created, no surprise since this is the 3rd author to add to the series. The storyline and the way that everything comes together is clever and enjoyable, the book is dark but not too graphic and I think the author has a done a great job of creating new characters who I'm hoping we'll meet again. I'm really happy I had a chance to read this, thank you to NetGalley and the Author/Publisher
I was really excited to be able to read this, thanks to NetGalley and Karin Slaughter.
Firstly: If you're considering this book and have not read the rest of the series I beg you to start at the beginning (Grant County series and the Will Trent series in order) although this and the others could be read as standalones, it's really worth taking the time to get to know the characters and all of the history and details Karin Slaughter has created. Honestly, they just get better with every page!
I stayed up half the night to finish this one, it
was a whodunit like no other! With all the elements you would expect of a locked room mystery- an abusive ex husband, cold and distant family members, strangers who have something to hide, and our favourite newly married couple who were supposed to be enjoying a blissful honeymoon are of course there to figure out the mystery. In true Karin Slaughter style, everything will be far darker and more shocking than you can imagine.
I can't wait for the next instalment, I'm hoping we can spend a bit more time with some of the other wonderful characters (Faith and Jeremy perhaps?) although of course Will will be forever my favourite!
This is a fictional account of Mary Read and her adventurous life, told from her own perspective. Mary leads a fascinating life, from the moment she's born and must assume the identity of her deceased brother Mark, to her time as a female pirate and the trials and tribulations she faces in between. This is not only a story about adventure but of self discovery and resilience.
I absolutely loved this! The writing is beautifully poetic and the story is paced just right so that it keeps you captivated to the end. Marys character is so well developed and believable, I really wanted to just read this in one sitting. Best book I've read this year so far.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the author for the pleasure of reading this ARC.
I tried so hard to love this book, the writing itself is so lyrical and enchanting, but unfortunately I just found the story lacking so much. I really struggled to get through this one, I feel like a good 70% was just boring and nothing really happens. I enjoyed the character building and the relationship between Preston and Effy but that dragged on far longer than it needed to.
Thank you so much to the author and to NetGalley for the ARC.
Perfect for fans of fantasy and mythology, this story is unique and new, as the author has created her own world and characters rather than this being a retelling of an old tale.
I struggled to get into the story at first, I did have to pick it up a few times to really get going but in the end it was an interesting story and had a sense of mystery that kept me going. At the very end especially I struggled to put it down! I enjoyed that it was told from different characters viewpoints.
I really hope there will be a sequel, it seems like the author has left it open for one. In the mean time, I can't wait for publication so that I can add a physical copy to my mythology collection!
Many thanks to the author and Netgalley for the ARC.
