What a cool idea! Loved the concept of the story and the characters! Can't wait to dive into book 2!
Fun space romp with a crew I definitely fell in love with. Looking forward to more adventures.
I really enjoyed this story. Some of the world building kinda drug on, but overall a great story that kept moving forward. I'd definitely be keen to see what happens next in this universe.
A great introduction to what promises to be a very fun and interesting world. Can't wait to read more about the adventures of Saphire and Timothy Binks.
An enjoyable read, but suffers the same thing every prequel does. Lack of stakes. The story wasn't aided by Ripley, I would have preferred leaving her out so that I didn't know how it ended.
Story wise, great. kept me interested the entire time.
I grew up on Terry Brooks. This last series has not really wowed me. It's not bad per se, but in the past, he could tell a story in a single book, at most a trilogy. Now entire books are dedicated to plodding along. That's how this book felt. By the end, I didn't feel anything had really happened. It's actually left me wondering if I care enough to finish reading the series.
I'm about 70% thru as I write this and am really impressed. I'm always kinda torn when it comes to Gary V. Sometimes he's really inspirational as an entrepreneur, and sometimes I just wanna sock him, and most of the time I don't pay attention to him. BUT this book is pretty remarkable.
There's some internet 101, which I could do with out, but I suspect that part of the book isn't meant for me. The rest is quite interesting and really helps get the entrepreneurial juices flowing. I suspect anyone who reads his book and isn't doing what they love, will be leaving their jobs (good for the economy, those that want the work can get it and those that should be working on their passions will be) to follow Gary's words.
I consider this a business book, and have sworn those off in the last few years since they're mostly lip service about how great the author is and how with hard work you too can be great, without ever actually offering advice. Gary offers advice.
Great read at only 70% done.
I don't read much King. No real reason, the movie adaptations are always interesting, I just don't read him. But when I saw this title listed on Amazon, i had to see what it was about.
Glad I did. Really good read. he kinda wraps it up in a hurry, which after investing so much time leading up to the end, a few more pages/chapters to really close it wouldn't hurt my feelings, but ending aside, awesome book.
Definitely a good read.
I think it'd be fine for someone earlier in their journey. Was all pretty standard stuff and nothing new.
I found this at our local used book store, and wowza. Granted I'm a sci-fi nut, but Hamilton surprised me, with how deep his universe goes and how well he lays it all out.
My only gripe, and this isn't a Hamilton problem, but I had no idea it was a two parter, until I was 7/8s done and the story wasn't resolving, a quick flip to the back page, and low and behold, a second part.
If you're into the deeper sci-fi stories that have real people and lots of them, this two book series is a must. I'm reading the second part right now.
If you're a creator, read this. While it's obviously about film making, anyone in a creative endeavor, especially if you're choosing to not wait for the gatekeepers of your industry, will love the story. I LOL'ed more a few times, and found myself nodding at some of his observations.
I was gifted a hardcover copy, and purchased a Kindle edition, so I could gift the hard cover.
A great resource to hold on to. I read it through, marking up lots of sections. I'll re-read it again in a bit as I work on blurbs. Highly recommend for any author.
I actually only read 1-3. I couldn't commit to one more. The characters were amazingly boring. The plot was both slow and plodding, then with bursts of kind of boring action that followed suit in all three books.
I'm glad the character I thought was the main character wasn't because he was immensely boring to read. Not that the actual “Main” character was any better. Add that characters go from strong and passionate about their story to 5th level characters with little actual personality. One simply became a whole new person it seems.
So yeah, made it 75% before throwing in the towel, and don't care at all how the series wraps up.
Awesome book on how communities form and work. Uses some great examples of real works crowds, that I've actually heard about or even seen myself, so that's a good thing.
Several excellent explanations about social media, and it's impact, mine has several highlight marks, and page tabs in it. It's a keeper.
A fun very 80s style fantasy story wrapped around a fun detective story. Definitely enjoyed it.
a good start to a series, but definitely slow as they introduce every character in turn.
the pacing throughout this and the following books picks up which is good.
A great primer and even brush up for running your newsletter. I've had mine (Newsletter) for a while now with a list of “One day I'll do...” and reading this kicked everything into gear for me.
