Listened to this on audiobook. Great narrator. This book was as good as I remembered it.
This was another story of Odd Thomas a young man who can see and communicate with spirits or ghosts. He can also see demon-like beings that are intent on harming others. Odd is staying at a monastery where he seeking quiet reflection time. Of course there is no rest for him. He needs to find a way to help the young students in the school attached to the monastery who are all in some way damaged, either mentally or physically. Odd shows his capacity for love and caring with these children and they love and care for him back.
Love this series. It keeps getting better with each book.
I usually enjoy all of Mary Roach's books but this one was good but not her best. She didn't seem really objective to the subject as a scientist should.
Really enjoyed this book. I am not crazy about werewolves stories but this one was really enjoyable. It was a fast read and kept pretty light most of the time. I'm definitely going to be reading the rest of the series.
I did not like the beginning of this book. The first few chapters with both the main charachters bordered on rape and kidnapping, even though it did not happen it really turned me off But after I got past my original reservations of the first few chapters it started to intrigue me. By the end I was enjoying it and will say that I will probably read more of the series.
This was a different view on vampires that I haven't read. I really like the main characters Bones and Cat. Their story is an interesting one. I am looking forward to reading the next one.
This book is very different from what I've read before. I enjoyed the different view of vampires, ghost and supernatural environments. It was a bit slow in parts but it was necessary for the story. Overall a very enjoyable read.
I really enjoyed this one. It has been a while since I read a Sookie Stackhouse book and this one did not disappoint. It was fun of action and interesting twists.
The book kinda of dragged in the beginning but about halfway through it started to get good. The main character grew on me about then. I really got a kick out of her friends though they were funny.
This was a light read or listen with lots of different takes on the usual paranormal entities. Looking forward to the next one.
This is a nice take on the Grimm stories. I am definitely going to continue reading this series.
Really enjoyed this. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series I just want to kill Jeb for what he did to Max. Making her trust him all the while using her. He should be drawn and quartered for allowing the experients to happen to his children.
The beginning half of the book dragged quite a bit and I almost gave up. Then it picked up and then it was a good book. Some of the stuff in the beginning was good background for the second half but that's what saved this book.
This was excellent. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. I was hooked immediately by the memoir aspect of the story. I am not usually a fan of the fantasy genre so was very pleasantly surprised by this book. If you get it on audio it is even better. The narrator is so good and really made Lady Trent come alive. I hope the author will continue Lady Trent's adventures.
This was a strange book. I haven't seen the movie but I don't think it matches up too much.
Peter Lake and Beverly Penn have a love story that is very brief. He decides to rob her house thinking it is empty and she is alone in the house but is sick with consumption or what at least seems like consumption. They fall in love and Beverly dies soon after. The book then shifts to another time and place. Lake of the Coteries is place that cannot be accessed easily. Virginia is a young mother who decides to leave there and go into the city. She arrives in NYC and has a lot of luck in getting a job at a newspaper The Sun. There is also the story of a white stallion who keeps appearing throughout the time. He seems to be immortal and helps Peter when he needs it both in the past and in the future when he suddenly appears alive with very little memory of his past life. I would love to give this 5 stars as it is very well written, but a bit too disjointed. I enjoyed the stories of each couple and finding how they connected.
I thorough enjoyed this book as an audiobook. I started reading it as a paperbook but found that I enjoyed it being read to me more. The narration was excellent. I could really see the possibility of the stories possibly being partly real. The behind the scenes in a soap opera was really interesting and fun. The main character Kate was quite funny and made me feel like I would be friends with her.
Temperance Brennan is involved in recovering bodies from a plane crash. A foot that does not match anyone one the plane. She starts investigating who it belongs to. Then she starts getting threats telling her to stay out of it. Then her career is being sabotaged in this process. The stories are getting better and better each one in the series.
Temperance Brennan is contacted to investigate some bones that may be possibly Jesus or in the family of Jesus. There are a lot of religious information which I found fascinating. I always love the forensic science in these books. These are different from the tv series Bones but I still really enjoy them.
Tana wakes up with a bunch of dead bodies. In this book vampires are real and they get corralled into walled towns called “coldtowns”. Her ex boyfriend at the party was bitten and has not turned yet. She decides to go with him to coldtown in case he does turn. On the way they pick up another crazy vampire and two wannabe vampires. Tana tries to keep Adian from turning and keeping Gavriel from being crazier although she is attracted to him.
The story is good although sometimes seems a bit vague in parts. I liked the relationships in the story although why she cares about Aiden is unclear.
I did like the ending though.
