This was a good read. I liked the main characters for the most part. Looking forward to the next one
This was an enjoyable book. It had a nice storyline set in the 20's about a medium and bootlegger. Both have overcome obstacles in their life and both try to avoid love.
I haven't read much Regency or Historical Romance in a while. This one was really enjoyable. More of the gothic regency romance genre. Mysterious death of first wife, the husband might have done it etc.
This was an excellent book. I could not put it down. Addison shunned by the world who are horrified of him encounters a strange girl who does not like being touched and stays away from the world but together they form a couple against the world.
Excellent! I loved this even on the second reading. And the audiobook is narrated by James Marsters (Spike) and he really is perfect for it. I cannot hear anyone else doing these books anymore.
Destiny is a water dragon escaping from a research facility. She partners up with Trae who is an air dragon to try to free her family and find his sister. This is a world where dragons exist but are unknown to the normal world. The plot steadily pulled me in and I kept looking forward to reading the book. Destiny and Trae's instant attraction was obvious but I liked that they didn't just jump into bed right away and let the suspense grow.
Nikki Heat is still trying to solve her mother's murder and is seemingly closing in when a serial murderer seems intent on playing games with her. Another pair of investigators come on the scene and disrupt her as well. It seems that Rook and the female investigator have had a relationship in the past. Nikki has to put her dislike of her to cooperate with them to solve the serial killer's murder. This serial killer seemingly is tied up with her mother's case and everything is getting muddy. I enjoyed the interaction between Heat and Rook as well as her team. It helps that I can put faces to the characters as they are acting very true to the tv show.
This was a good book but it is slow going. But there is a lot of world building which is very thorough. Some things are never really clear which takes a bit of getting used to. Mainly the fact of gender is never clear. But once you can get past that it is really good. The author uses flashbacks to explain some stuff which is interesting and helpful.By the end I really was into the book and could not put it down. It seems like there is room for a sequel.
Carrie owns a diner in Philadelphia. She is immortal and can hear people thoughts. She was made immortal by Lucifer. She is friends with another demon and an angel. Into the diner walks Sebastian who has been slated to give up his life in a weeks time. He did it to save his sister. Carrie decides she needs to help him and save his soul.
I enjoyed the book. It has a very different look at demons and angels that I didn't expect. If you are religious you might not like this book. But I have an open mind and enjoy a good story which is what you get here.
I received this book free from the publisher for an honest opinion.
Sofia Claremont who is an orphan being raised by her best friends parents go on vacation to Cancun. She is kidnapped along with a number of others to be part of the Harem for Derek Novak who is the leader of this particular clan of vampires. She is taken to the Shade an island where it never gets light because of a spell from a witch. Of course Sofia and Derek form a strong bond. It was a quick read and I'll be looking for the next in the series.
There are a few things you can always count on in a Heinlein book. Women have equal if not more strengths as men. A lot of free thinking about sex and politics. This book does not disappoint there. Johnny Rico joins the military with his friend and because of a girl. He moves up the ranks quickly. Then a war breaks out and he has to really grow up. I kept getting the story confused with [b:Old Man's War 51964 Old Man's War (Old Man's War, #1) John Scalzi https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1487044882s/51964.jpg 50700]. It's obvious there that Scalzi read this book and used the aliens as type. Bug-type that is. LOL. I like some of Heinlein's other books better but this was enjoyable.
This was a really good book. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I hope that the stories continue I have to check to make sure. Hugh Howey really got this story full of great characters.
Lots of sex but not necessary erotic. Very descriptive (faint of heart need not apply). Very weird. Funny in spots. Almost seemed like someone challenged Piers Anthony to write an erotic book.
This was an excellent book. I listened to it on audio and cannot recommend that enough because the names to get proper pronunciation. The author reads it and does such a good job at doing all the different characters. The story pulled me very quickly and took a turn about a quarter of the way in that I did not expect. it becomes a ghost story with the main character going through the different levels of ghost planes. Then having to get back to her body just to find out that it is being used by someone else. I need to find out if this is the author's first book because it doesn't not seem like it. It is so well fleshed out that I can see the world Li Lan is a part of.
I really thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had not read [b:The Shining 11588 The Shining (The Shining, #1) Stephen King https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1353277730l/11588.SY75.jpg 849585] before reading this but it did not take anything away from it. Things were explained without too much exposition. I listened to on Audible and it was narrated very well.
Charley is a Grim Reaper to help people cross over. She is engaged to the sexy Reyes Farrow who is the son of Satan. Somebody wants Charley to hunt down a witness to a crime and she is trying to figure out why and who. Reyes wants her to think before she leaps but knows she won't. She is just trying to keep everyone safe at the expense of herself. This is another great book in this series.
Charley is trying to figure out her relationship to the sexy Reyes who is living next door and is the son of Satan. Charley is a grim reaper helping souls cross to the other side while working as a private eye. Blond female ghosts keep popping up in her apartment and she knows somehow this is a serial killer issue. She maintains her flippant attitude all during the book which sometimes gets a little annoying. I know its a defense mechanism but sometimes it is a bit much. But I still enjoyed the story very much.
Neil Gaiman continues to produce strange and bizarre stories. But they are always intriguing. This one is no different. Part adult and part young adult in content.
It is the story of young boy who encounters a girl named Lettie who promises to always protect him. She takes him to a place where unfortunately he gets “infected” with a dark entity who ultimately seems to want to claim him.
The story was so compelling that I finished it in three days (it not a long story).
Lainie Terrell works as a showgirl to provide for her young son Dexter. One of her neighbors Harry and also an accountant for the same place she works for watches her son occasionally. Lainie's ex and the child's father tries to get Dexter and Harry jumps out the window with Dexter. Lainie and Harry take Dexter to a safe place and then they try to lure Joey away from Dexter by going to a time share resort.
This was an enjoyable read if not very plausible. But that's why its called fiction LOL. It was a good escape from reality.
Very Similar to the Hobbit, but much easier to understand. I didn't like the Hobbit but this one I enjoyed not loved but enjoyed very much.
This is the second time around for me with this book and I still love it. This time I listened to the audiobook and it was so well done.
