This was an enjoyable read. It is a bit madcap with all the different universes and different things occurring in each one, but I enjoyed.
I enjoyed this very much. It was a great continuation to the original book. It takes place four years after so that was a bit different from what usually is the continuity thread. I am looking forward to the next one.
I enjoyed this book. The series keeps getting better with each book. In this one we are seeing the romance blooming between Peabody and McNab even if Dallas does not want to hear or think about it. Roarke and Dallas are such a great couple, they seem so real. Especially when Roarke puts his foot in his mouth occasionally.
This was a really entertaining book. I'm looking for the 2nd book that I've downloaded from audible.
It was a slow start and found myself sort of starting to skim through it. Once Lisbeth came on the scene it became interesting and only got better from there. I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Lisbeth and Mikael. It was a relationship that Lisbeth needed and I think it helped heal her to a point. I was so sad at the way it ended though. I was hoping she could have a nice relationship.
The book takes place on the Moon. Jasmine “Jazz” Bashura is a smuggler getting things to rich people that would not otherwise be allowed. She works as a porter during her regular hours and her father is very respected welder that she was trained to follow but is going her own way. She is of Saudi Arabian descent and has spent her whole life on the moon. She gets an offer too good to be true but pays so well that she has to do it. It affects her whole life and the lives of all on Artemis.
There is never a dull moment in this story and was a great follow up to The Martian. I won't be surprise to find out this is going to be a movie soon.
This is a short story in the Jane Yellowstone series.
It is a bit of a throwaway story. It does not connect anything in the prior stories. A bit of fun but too short.
Ilona Andrews always has great sexy scenes and she did not disappoint in this book. Nevada is trying hold her family together doing P.I work. Only a few people have magic capabilities due to a virus a long time ago. The most powerful ones are Primes. Conner “Mad” Rogan is one of them. He is very volatile and tries not to fall for Nevada. He is very arrogant and pissed me off a lot but that just makes for the best characters. Nevada does not put up with him and fights him until he softens towards her. I give it 4 stars. I'll read the next in the series
Dimitri is a Jinn who is working for the current Master a multimillionaire Karl Walker. Dimitri has to do whatever Karl wants him to or the hum in his head gets more painful. He has accepted his lot in life until he meets Syd in a bar. Then Karl has Dimitri going on back to back jobs getting more and more dangerous. Dimitri wants to find a way to keep Syd and still survive his dangerous lifestyle.
The first half of the book was mostly sex and graphic violence. It really started to get old and I was about to give up on it. then the plot came in and I couldn't put it down. The ending was really great. Now I am looking forward to the next book which I also have to review.
I really enjoyed this book for the most part. Yes it was violent and I was cringing when I thought the cat was going to be torn apart but so glad it didn't happen . But then again I enjoy “Walking Dead”. But I never wanted to put it away and read something else. I looked forward to finding out what was going to happen. I got a kick over Zoe's attitude to her father's excesses. The hologram Candy was a silly plot device but still funny. The irreverence is just what I expected from the description of it.
Suze is a mediator, needing to help the dead move on to the light or wherever they should be going. Trying to do this without alerting her family, friends and teachers is very hard. This is the third in the series which reminds me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer of which I am a huge fan of.
Dina is an “Innkeeper” who has magical powers from her inn. The inn is a sanctuary for aliens travelers like vampires, werewolves, fae, demons, etc. There are mysterious killings around the town of livestock and animals. Dina is trying to get to the bottom of that. In walks Sean Evans who is a new werewolf in the neighborhood. They of course butt heads and have to find a way to work together.
This is a return to good storytelling by Laurell Hamilton. Lately I've been a little tired of the love triangle between Anita, Jean-Claude and Richard. Anita steps away from them for a little while and is helping Edward in Arizona. Turns out Ed is known there as Ted and has a girlfriend and her two kids in his life. People are being skinned alive and Edward asks for her help in finding out who is doing this.
this was an excellent book. A bit unnerving as well. The reliance on the “Forum” and “Lux” is eerily like Facebook and Siri. Or what could become in the future if we are not careful. It sort of gave me the creeps but I could not put the book down. It is sure to be a bestseller and possibly win some awards as well. I'm going to find this author's other book and see if the writing is as good as this one was.
Kirit lives in a city of towers made out of bone. She is about to earn her wings and be able to fly around the city like her mother who is a trader. The city is high in the clouds but there is danger in the clouds as well. Creatures they call sky mouths attack and eat whoever is in their path. The Singers keep these sky mouths away from the towers. They are the ultimate law in this city granting requests and dealing with lawbreakers.
I listened to this as an audiobook but also whisper synced with the Kindle edition. The narrator was excellent and kept me very clear as to who was who.
I had a hard time putting this book down and cannot wait until the next one. It is considered a young adult novel and while it is a really good story for a younger reader aka no sex, no kissing etc. it is an excellent story to get lost in. World building is strong and there is no dumbing down in this story. I'm sure this is going to be a best seller before long.
I really didn't like this book much. Perhaps it was because I listened to it on audio and I did not like the narrator. I could not tell who was who.
This is a book about a little girl and her dog. She has an idea of the most magnificent thing to make. She tries and tries but cannot seem to get it right. She gets madder and madder until her dog makes her step away from the problem. This book illustrates how sometimes you need to step away from a problem and then come back at it another direction with a fresh mind and then you can accomplish what you set out to do. The illustrations were really cute. This is a good book for all the perfectionists out there.
This was a fast read. I found it hard to put down. The characters are very fleshed out and seem very real.
I liked the concept of traveling faster through grimspace. It just seemed a bit hard to grasp sometimes. But I think the world was fleshed out very well. I really like the fact that they acknowledged that other worlds are very different and may be inhospitable to humans and they take precautions before jumping out into it. Sirantha Jax is a flawed person but is trying her best to overcome what has happened and is not always able to do so. I am looking forward to reading the next one.
The world keeps shifting between magic and tech and during Flair ups the Kate has to clean up magic users use of bad magic. Every 7 years there is a major shift and gods and goddesses are trying to own the world and Kate is caught up trying to save a little girl, some maps and not get killed herself. Really interesting world. I like that she doesn't just fall into bed with the main good looking guy Curran. There is attraction but so far they are staying away from each other.
Hannah is the owner and baker of a cookie shop but on the side, she has two boyfriends Norman and Mike, and she can't decide which one is for her. Mike gets the chance to build the dream house both he and Hannah won a prize for dreaming up, but a dead body is found there, and Hannah is off trying to find the killer again. Book is full of delicious recipes, and I always wind up writing them down but never trying them.
These stories are always a fairly light fun read.
I loved this book. It keeps you guessing throughout and just when you know what happened it changes. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
This is the story of twins, one who is magical and the other who isn't. The story tells of how Mercy tries to fit into her family and tried not to love her sister's boyfriend and settle for her long time friend. This is also a mystery in finding out who killed her aunt who was a bit of a bitch.
This was excellent sort of Castaway in space.I found myself looking for reasons to listen to this book. The narrator was perfect for it also.
