I wasn't sure about reading this since he passed away but I found it a really good read. The fact that he narrates it as well that was a clincher. He tells his story never really blaming anyone but himself and why he could not stop doing the drugs or alcohol. But really put the emphasis on the damage it does to the body. He was very frank about many things that I didn't expect
This book was a fun read. It was quirky and very different. The characters are very well flushed out. I'm hoping that a sequel gets written although it did get resolved in the end.
The book is a bit on the dark side but I really enjoyed most of the stories as they built upon each other bringing with them hopes and fears of each generation away from the pandemic that occurs. I especially enjoyed the narration in the book.
Derik is becoming an Alpha and driving his family crazy so he sets out to California to take care of Sara who is the reincarnated Morgana La Fay whom they believe will end the world. Enter the hilarious world of MaryJanice Davidson. I always fun her books very fun to read.
This was a good addition to the Eve Duncan world even though she was not in it. Recurring characters fleshed out more, mainly Judd Morgan.
Not crazy about this book. It seemed very disjointed and trying to remember who was Union and who was Company and who was Fleet was hard. The part of the story I liked best was about the Heza.
I always find Mary Roach can bring information to you in a fun way. Her books are detailed but she makes dry information fun. I always learn new stuff in her books. This one is about animals doing harm to our world but really they are just being animals doing what animals do - survive. I learn more about animal scat than I thought I could. LOL.
This was a fun but very parallel universe type of book. It is part memoir but then it veers off into fiction/fantasy/mystery. Brent has a stalker who wants to kill him and sends him weird stuff in the mail. He name drops many characters (real life and in the star trek universe) so they must be in part true. I found this fun as I am a fan of Next Generation Star Trek. If you are not a fan of Next Generation or Star Trek it will probably leave you a little baffled.
Danica Waterhouse is a witch able to fix things using her magic. Titus is a baker with a shop a couple of blocks over from her shop. When Danica fixes Titus's oven sparks fly between them. Titus has been hurt many times in love so he holds back a bit. Danica has been told that she will lose her magic if she falls in love with a mortal.
This was a fairly fun romance. It was a bit fluffy but sometimes that's what you need. Reminds me of a Lifetime Movie but I enjoyed it because sometimes you need something light.
I really enjoyed this book. It talks about how she grew up and her background as a Republican because that was what her father was and how she changed her views as she got older and became a Democrat.
I found lots of stuff I didn't know about Hillary Clinton and really want to read more about her. I really admire her breaking some glass ceilings.
There is a lot of development in this installment of Cat and Bones relationship. We find out that apparently she was married at 16 to another vampire Gregor whom they call Dream Snatcher. He wants her back and will stop at nothing to have her. At the same time the ghouls and vampires are upset because of rumors that Gregor is circulating. Bones and Cat have to work their differences out to come back together. Really good book. A lot of backstory added fleshing the relationships out even more.
I've had this book for a while and finally got around to reading it. I'm sorry I waited so long. I want to read the next asap.
This was a fun read with Gabriela being a recovery agent going around the world getting items back to their owners. When her grandmother tells her a ghost named Annie tells her to find something Gabbie winds up going around the world with her ex-husband and getting into one scrap after another. Think Stephanie Plum but able to handle guns and fight like a pro. Loved this and look forward to reading more of this series.
Courtney Kelly owns a very special shop that teaches how to make fairy gardens as well as a tea shop in Carmel, CA. Along with the fairy gardens come real fairies that only allow certain believers to see them of which Courtney is one of them.
Courtney's friend Wanda gets into many public disagreements with Lana whom seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way as well. When Lana is found dead and Wanda over the body, Wanda is arrested.
It is up to Courtney and her fairy friend to help prove Wanda innocent. But there are so many suspects.
This book was so adorable with the fairy gardens and also gives tips on making your own. I really enjoyed the interaction with the characters in this story and will look forward to more of this author.
Tetley Abednego is a young girl stuck on a pile of garbage. The Earth has been flooded and the only things that remain are floating garbage islands. There are different parts of this island named after the type of stuff that is arranged on it.
The story is very strange but strangely wonderful. Tetley did something that angered everyone but she still has hope of a better life.
The world is very detailed and interesting.
I started reading this and almost put it down but then a few chapters in it grabbed me.
The book morphs quite a bit until I couldn't put it down. The book is told in four people's point of view. Ted (main adult in story), Olivia (the cat), Lauren (a child) and Dee (adult who lost her sister). I really enjoyed this back and forth in perspectives. You are always getting part of the story but never the whole story until the last few chapters.
I will be looking for more books by this author.
Review: Wade and the rest of the gang survived the first book and are now rich and powerful. But Halliday was not done. He hid something wonderous in his vault that is a headset that will change the world. It enables full virtual reality, taste, sight, hearing etc. Wade screws up his love life with Samantha then throws himself basically into exile and into Oasis game. Addicted more than ever to it. He has a new quest and of course new dangers.
I enjoyed the sequel more than I expected to based on the past reviews which is why I waited so long to read it. The beginning was very description heavy but it was needed.
Ropa is a Ghost talker delivering messages from the departed to their families. When a ghost comes to her wanting to find out how her child is Ropa gets pulled into a challenging mystery. Children are being pulled away from their families and left as empty husks. A friend sneaks her into a special library “The Library of the Dead” and she gets introduced to more magic than she knew existed.
I listened to the audiobook and the heavy Scottish brogue was initially hard to understand but eventually, I got used to it and it did really set the atmosphere of the book. I am looking forward to more of the series. I would have liked to hear more about the Library as it was not really taking place in the library as I thought it would from the title. It should have been titled Ghost talker. I still enjoyed it very much. It moved at a really good pace.
good start to the series. Should have been a free read to entice you to read the rest of the series.
The book is set in a steampunk Victorian setting. I really enjoyed the story of Delly and Winn throughout the story. Winn's saying “what” after each sentence was a bit annoying at first but I grew to like it. I liked that a bunch of “witches” getting together to stop the drug trade especially since they are from different backgrounds.
I hope there is a sequel to this story.
This is a bit of a take off on Midsummer's Night Dream on crack. Pocket and his group have washed up on Greece's shore and is soon going to perform at the Duke's minister's daughter Hermia and Lysander. But she doesn't want to marry him. The Duke decrees that she will be executed. Unfortunately Pocket declares the Duke's decree is stupid and causes them to escape with their lives and goes into the fairy realm by accident where even more craziness happens. It was a fun read. But if you dislike cursing you will not like this as the work f..k is used many, many times. But I was fine with it.
This was excellent. I definitely want to read more of this author. His writing is very Heinlein like but without the sexism in the stories.
Lavington Windsor (Toni) has been raising the dead since she was a little girl. It is second nature to her. She is also a real estate agent and has been to help find an estate to a new vampires in town. She finds the vampire very sexy and they start a relationship. Someone wants the vampires to go away and Lavington gets targeted by the group as well.
Toni's attracted to Oscar but I like her relationship with Peter more. He seems much more attentive to her and her needs. Oscar is very one dimensional character but his superior Benedict Akil is more interesting to me.
It was a fun read even though it was rather violent. Lots of heads flying off. LOL.
