I'd recommend Asimov's New Guide to Science over this one since it goes more in depth.
It's literally a transcript of a talkshow. I guess maybe it might be alright as an introduction to the topic but even then there's better options which aren't written in a boring format. Every chapter talks about a different drug, but the content of each chapter is almost a carbon copy of the previous one.
His previous book and lectures talk about the same subject matter in an easier to follow manner.
JBP often draws analogs from biblical stories/myths, which I sometimes find far-fetched. The given examples from his own life and clinical practise resonate better with me.
The version I read was a poor translation, pace of book is more enjoyable compared to the previous volume.
I'm disappointed the origins to Vilgefortz' power are not explained.
Should have been a hundred pages shorter. The pace felt a little better compared to Rama II. I liked the story as well.
Very similar to The Martian. Better in my opinion.
Unfortunately the humor is (still) not a complete match for me.
The subject matter is very interesting, but the book is so much harder to read than it has to be.
