I find it so hard to believe that the characters in the last two books are the same ones I fell in love with. They have changed in NOT good ways. Sookie has seemed to dumb herself down more and more.. instead of growing with the story. sigh I am so angry with this series right now I don't even want to write a review. I miss the book characters and not the POS HBO characters she is trying to turn them into.. rather has turned them into
I had high hopes for this book and was greatly let down. I read it about a year ago and was left scratching my head. I fell like this story could have been a lot better, but that the author was trying to make the book into something it was not.
Short choppy sentences. I honestly had to try five or six times to finally finish this book. I tried another one and still. I just am not a fan of Laurell K. Hamilton's writing style.
I loved all of the other Sookie Stackhouse books and I hate to say that I was severely disappointed with this one! I waited over a year for a story that could have been posted as a novella and not as it's own book a part of the series nothing really important happened in this book. I got finished with it and wandered where the other half of the book was. I really feel like Harris was pushing out a filler book and not one that she felt like writing. I wish she would have taken another year and published an addition that actually had some worth. While I was not happy with this book it was not bad enough to turn me away from the series however I will wait for the next release to go to paper back or Kindle. I will not shell out the money for another hardcover book from Harris.
The Black Train was such a strange story. I normally see the plot line of the story coming from a mile away, and I did not actually figure out the real “bad guy” until it was reveled within the story. The Black Train is not for the faint of heart. Parts of the story are very disturbing and down right gross.
I have read this very short story I don't know HOW many times. I am always sucked into it every time I open the front cover
After finishing this book I honestly think I may need to tape my ribs up... because I laughed so hard.
My husband even stopped me a few times to read him the really funny parts
I finished this book today and While I loved the character development and the story build up The story itself is disturbing and truly disgusting. And to think it is based on true events, God I really do not want to know what parts are real. I finished the book and watched the movie. The detail that was left out of the movie allowed me to be able to actually watch the movie.
I think the reason this story sits so badly with me is because it is about children. I just can not wrap my mind around the events in this book.
I do not like the story line. This is not the type of horror I want to read about. I am shaken by this story in all the wrong ways. It will be a while before I ever think about picking up another book from Jack Ketchum....
