I really wanted to enjoy this. The problem was that for me it felt like it needed one more tweaking and polishing before being published. Words ran into each other making it distracting and easy t lose my train of thought. I thought word choices culdnt have different. The dialogue felt flat. And the character developement was just so-so. I didn't connect with anyone from the book and didn't really care what happened to them.
You know those freebie shifter romance books you can get on Amazon for free that are mediocre at best? That is what this reminded me of.
I recieved a copy of this through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I find that urban fantasy has pulled me from my reading slump. I was reading paranormal romance for a bit, but find that the quick, sappy endings were getting to be too much.
So I really think this series. Definitely a series I will read straight through to the most recent publication.
I enjoyed it enough to start book two. Nothing spectacular, the storyline isn't unique. The characters stay true to character, which is important to me, not doing so kills a book instantly. Jacob could be a bit more, hopefully his back story will come with book two. I hope book two isn't just a repeat of book one like so many recent series tend to do.
This is a good start to a series. Cool world, lots of sex, but I wouldn't label it erotica, and there are a lot of books already written.
What caught my attention about this book was the description, more accurately the sentence: A library with the secrets to the universe. I clicked the request button without reading anything else wanting to ensure myself ne of the w5 available coies. I am so glad I did. It's one of the strangest, creepiest, memorable and shocking books I have ever come across.
What an opening sentence:
Carolyn, blood-drenched, and barefoot, walked alone down the two-line stretch of blacktop that the Americans called highway 78.
After that, I couldn't it it down without impatiently waiting to pick it back up. I still haven't fully absorbed all that I read, and am not sure that I ever will. I already want to pick it back up to restart reading this. I think I will, I am sure there will be more that I find the second time around now that I know what to expect. This is easily one of the best books I have ever read. I was so shocked to find out that this is the author's debut novel, I so wanted more from him. I hope there is more to come, soon, I am not a patient person.
This is broke into three sections. The first third of the book really had my interest, I loved it. The second part was tolerable. I hoped that the third part would pull it back together. NOPE! NOT AT ALL! It changes view points, which was confusing. I feel like I read three short stories where the loose ends were never nicely tied. I am very disappointed because I had such high hopes.
I recieved a copy from Blogging For Books.
I like this book. I love this series. I do think maybe Dani's books should have been their own series. It's a nice break from Mac. I picked this up after not touching the series for some time. I needed to refresh what all had happened.
This surprised me. I liked it more than expected. I would have loved to have seen less romance and more action or world building. The world is what is most intriguing.
I will definitely be watching for the next book in this series, more from this author. This has potential to be amazing as the story builds. I so hope this becomes all it can be as a series, I am impatient to find out what is to come.
Digital review copy provided through Netgalley.
I really like this series. This one was a bit different than the previous two because there wasn't as much family fun as in the other two where we had a main character frequently in the story.
I did enjoy that the couple was very compatible and had similar interests. I liked having the kids in this one. Book 4 now.
Enjoyed this better the second time around much more than the intial read about two years ago. I had forgot most the details. I was really into books with loads of romance at that time, I am happy to say that I didn't miss it this time. Yes, there is some, but not like my usual reads. Tastes are changing.
This one is full of twists and turns, both heart breaking and heart warning moments, and in the endd really ties this series together. I am saddened that this is the last book in this series, but am very glad that I decided to finally read this. On to some more of Frank's books.
I love Janet Evanovich's books but I could not get into this one. I found myself skimming through parts of it.
I am really liking this series. I tried to get into it a while back and just couldn't. Good thing my memory of these isn't to great because this time I like it.
This book is so cute. Lottie uses her new beach towel creatively to save the day over and over again in this cute book. My son (kindergarten) really enjoyed that he could successfully sound out most of the words in this book by himself. Most books that he can read by himself have a boring story line but this one didn't. He borrowed this book from the library and enjoyed it so much that we ordered a copy for him to add to his collection.
I read this book when I was younger. I am now reading it to my children and they love it. My six tear old son has never liked to be read to but hebis actually enjoying our one chapter a night routine. I think he has developed a slight crush on Beezus. He comments on some of the things that Ramona does to irritate her sister by saying things like ‘Ramona shouldn't be mean to Beezus'. It's funny because he does similar things to his sister.
I read the first books in Ione's Demonica series, I for some reason never considered reading any of the books in the spinoff Lords of Deliverance. I should have started these a while ago. These sit perfectly with the books I normally read. Glad I waited though, this definitely pulled me out of a reading slump.
I love that the characters from Demonica also appear in this. It was nice to get updates on them. I do think I may reread those books because I feel I have forgotten bits of them.
This seriously put me in mind of Showalter's LOTU books with the demon possessed Ares, a good thing in my opinion considering they are among my favorite books.
This is has everything you want in a paranormal romance. The unique characters, the smutty sex, the hero with a bad side, etc. I tend to not love books in this genre where one of the main characters is human, but Ione's found a way to make the human unique and really drag her into thus world. I like how the female Cara grows into what she becomes but also holds true to her roots.
Bravo! Thank you book for pulling me from my slump. On to the next book just so happens I have a copy I rescued from a trash can at the airport about a year ago, still even smells like pickles.
paranormal romance
This is the first book I ever read alone as a child. Now it is my son's favorite. We read it together at least once a week at bedtime.
A sweet coming of age book. A story about how blooming personalities change a friendship. My daughter really enjoyed this book mainly because she has an aunt very close in age to her and she could relate to the main characters through personal experience.
I really like the television series. I do think that without having been faithfully watching it that this wouldn't have been a good read.
The graphics are okay, I have seen better, but also seen worse. The dialogue leaves a bit to be desired, and at times there seemed to be too many gaps in the story line, too much cut out. I will probably read a few more installments as they come before deciding whether to continue with this, or to throw in the towel.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this. I like the Mercy books better, but this really adds to the world. It really adds to how much the reader knows about the wolf packs and how they work. Anna bugs me though. I can't pinpoint why, but she does. Charles is said to be very dominate and tough, but I wish he would do something a bit more badass than we have seen so far... Maybe the next book we will see his killer, pack assassin come out and play. I so hoped he would be some sort of pack spy, like a fuzzy James Bond or something!
This was okay. I definitely wish that the female lead, Tamara, would have been a bit stronger, not so docile. I do like the male, Eric. I don't really see how they are such a good match.
The pacing of the story was good, not fast, not slow. I do wish there was more relationship building.
This is great. For anyone who has read the work of Roakd Dahl you know how he has a knack for using ridiculous, off the wall word a, and making them work perfectly. This is a collection of those words along with meanings. The illustrations s are typical to what you see in his books; wonderful and goofy. This is sure to be loved by both children and adults.
