It wasn't. It was a snoozefest. For something so short I should have finished this in a max of 2 days. I don't even think if the writing was good it would have saved this book. There was no horror aspect in this. Nothing was built up. The creature was so flat. I was really excited for an Appalachian horror story and this whole thing did not do it justice.

Then there was one all by its lonesome? I don't know, it was all a bit messy.

I think society forgets how to think for its damn self so in the midst of it all THEY look like a damn fools. Once you read, you'd see.

If you liked The Invisible Life of Addie Larue mixed in with Matt Haig you will love this book as much as I have.

I love Cat. I need to get that out there. This is my second book by her and the second time I am just... blown away. She has a special gift. Cat's writing is like a careful planned maze that make you think you are going the right way until you hit that dead in. The twists and turns in this book is just spot on. Why you love it and only gave it 4 stars? There were times that seemed liked they dragged a bit. It wasn't high on the fantasy and horror as well, which is okay because she was very high in the mystery and thriller aspects. As for the characters... they are like Nesting Dolls, that is all I am freaking saying. YOU NEED TO COME INTO THIS WITH AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE.

It is far from horror. Ren is a girl who loves water to a mentally ill degree and the story is what comes with said mental illness. I get the underlying concept of the story but it is one of those books that are filled with “all men are monsters.” I get it in the concept of Ren's POV but doesn't mean that the constant wasn't repetitive. I think I would have rounded up to a 3 if the ending had been done a bit better. Nothing scares me more than mentally ill people killing other mentally ill people in the sake of helping. like we all know damn well she wasn't a mermaid and the last line of the book was her swimming away... which meant she drowned but it was done so poorly. And I couldn't bring myself to fully care about Ren when she was treating Cathy like crap. but I guess you see that toxic pairing in movies and books. Iunno this book just wasn't it for me. A majority of the book was just sad and the horror part was an oh no but not an OH NO. The one good thing that was shown in this book was the process of the mind when trauma happens over and over again, especially when it is intense. That part I am sad and angry with Ren and Cathy.

That scene, you will know when you read it, will mess you up. It messed me up. As for the rest of it. I was so/so. It was a good basic Romance novel. I like what Evelyn did with Romeo and Juliet. I wasn't fully dreading reading it until the end... which I absolutely freaking loved.

How dare you hook me and had me feeling hope... only to rip it from me?? Do I look like MAREN?! This story had me. Like any good road trip there are going to be a bit of dry spells but you still loved the journey in the end. I... was expecting to be grossed out and stomach turned. No, what I got was a story about a girl trying to figure out herself and realizing that her connection with people was more than the average joe. Camille spun what should have been gruesome and horrid into a heart breaking story. I am just... speechless. The ending had me UNDONE an in tears.

Where do I even start? I think Tim needs to find a better editor if he has one or at least someone to tell him his switching from 3rd person to 1st isn't working. There were even a few scenes that just didn't make sense. Besides that we have his characters. The only one I could stand was George. Mark is a pansy and his friends are hicks. His family except his step mom is a joke. The whole story started out pretty okay and even towards the middle it was fine... it was about 75ish percent in that it went kind of down hill. I just honestly hate Mark. If you are going to write teen books can we drop the whole ‘teens are too stupid to make a freaking logical choice'? (Side note: Ignore the long date. I started reading it on the kindle app on my PC and decided to stop and wait for my Kindle to come in. Got through it much faster with it than with PC.)
