I LOVEDDDD this book. Hooked me from the first page and as soon as I knock off a few other books from my list I'm going back to re-read this. The fact that the plot is just so... real - like it could happen to any of us - just added to the unsettling vibes I got throughout the entire book. I need more like this.
2/04/25 - finished my re-read and loved it all the same :)
Not as good as dark mode, but I still liked it. The setting of the book was cool and added to the tensity, but I felt the ending was a bit abrupt.
My actual rating is 2.5 stars. Unfortunately I really struggled to get through this one. My overall thoughts, were that I found the book to be a bit boring, repetitive and so many of the characters just annoyed me. What I did like was the last 150 or so pages, but it wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the book.
Yeah... Safe to say I'm on the fourth wing train now. Love anything dragon related too.
Great read, love a good murder mystery. I liked the characters and the plot kept me engaged the whole way through. It started off somewhat slow but I never once found it boring.
A huge plus for me was the inclusion of the different format types in the book (interviews, production logs etc) - makes it so much more engaging. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
Great book, struggled to put it down. I could relate to a lot of the themes/content which made it both a difficult and amazing read at the same time. I was convinced I knew the twist just over halfway through but the ending took me entirely off guard, it was brilliant. This one's going on my re-read list!
This book was incredibly boring, I don't even know why I finished it. I think I was hoping it would get better but it didn't. Oh well, at least I added a finished book to 2024.
3.5. This was a fun & light read, which is exactly what I wanted/needed after reading a few more full on books recently. I like that I can stop reading for a few days and come back to it knowing I haven't forgotten like 2 years worth of plot points and world building. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!
Didn't really enjoy it from the start, pushed through to about ~50% but really wasn't vibing it. I felt confused the whole time.
Very creepy/disturbing. I found the first half of the book to be a bit slow, but it picked up in the second half. The ending took me by surprise, and I was slightly confused, but perhaps that was my fault for reading it at 11pm!
Wow, just wow. What a read.
I won't lie, I really struggled with the book at first. It's my first time reading something as in-depth and I felt I was way in over my head. I couldn't understand what was going on, even googled when would I stop being confused. But as the many people suggested, I stuck with it and have no regrets. The world building in this book is fantastic, as are the characters. I loved pretty much every character and am invested in their story. I can envision the world of Roshar. I can't wait to delve more into the series.
Decent read if you want a quick thriller mystery. I enjoyed the twist and the overall premise of the book, despite being a tad predictable. I felt it was quite rushed toward the end and some things could have been fleshed out a bit more, but I did just finish reading a series prior to this, so could just be me thinking too much of that!
