Never mind the plot, I’m more confused about a world where there are no more technologically advanced forms of transport than a horse and cart, where electricity is generated by people and rationed, yet we have spandex and polyester?

What?

I went in to this book without any real expectations, and was pleasantly surprised.

Fun characters, a good sense of geeky humour, and no endlessly stretched out scenes just for the sake of it.

Looking forward to reading the other 4 in the series.

Despite apparently having children, I’m not sure Yvette has actually ever spoken to any. The dialogue is bizarre and the 13 year old protagonists sound straight out of a Dickensian novel, despite it being contemporary.

Fantastic book, but Sarah does have a fixation with vomit and “watery bowels” that it could do without.

Glad I read it. Never again.
