Earlier books on the Nonpartisan League have been about the movement's influence in American politics over the whole of the U.S. This book covers the NPL and what happened in North Dakota.
This was where the movement began, and the story is mostly about the major leaders – Wild Bill Langer, a real character in this state, and two of Langer's biggest foes – Bill Lemke and Art Townley, the fellow who started the League. The rivalry for one another is the story of the book and it's interesting.
The writing is good. The characters are real. I enjoyed the story until the end. The book is too long and the end is jarring. I will try another in this series, but not for awhile.
Great character development for all of the main characters. The story began slowly, I had to push myself to continue reading, but after the first few “chapters” I needed no pushing.
