Do not care to continue reading this story. I think it's supposed to be funny, but the characters are just too annoying for me.
Good mystery, though I figured out who the murderer was, didn't like that it was him.
This story was not quite what I expected, but I still liked it. The bouncing around in chapters and with characters was a bit confusing at times, but I eventually figured it all out. The topic of banning books is currently a hot topic and I liked the way the author approached this issue within this small town.
“Being pretty's overrated.”
“Is that right?” The way Mrs. Wright said it made Nahla wonder if she'd passed some kind of test. “Then what would you rather be?”
“A force to be reckoned with.” I liked Nahla, wish there was more of her in the story.
Love the dynamics between Will and Sarah! A good, suspenseful plot as always with Karin Slaughter. As usual, full of twisted, disturbing characters with Sarah and Will trying to “save the world.” My heart broke for Mercy over and over again.
Well written, interesting characters, just went on and on a bit. Wish it was more about the character and her life as a medicine woman rather than working for a traveling “circus.”
Didn't think I'd like a silly little story like this, but the author creates characters you love and hate and want to invest your time in getting to know. And of course you have to keep reading to find out about the killing that occurs.
Wow!
From Marv: Heaven is just love, plain and pure, something for us to enjoy forever and ever and ever!
A VERY long story...good, but boy does the author get long-winded. Big bummer to get to the end and it doesn't exactly end; continues into his new book.
“I once read that whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light.”
Well, I'm sure many doors were opened to allow that light in all because of this beautiful story.
A fast-paced roller coaster of a story! Had me literally gasping out loud, didn't see it coming parts!
The Memory or Lavender and Sage is a charming, quaint story. It's not a page turner, to me this is a story to be read leisurely, to just soak in the atmosphere and delight in all the different characters. I just loved it!
Donna Ashworth is an incredibly gifted poet. I came across her poems after Jared passed and finally got one of her books. She is able to express such raw emotions in a beautiful and comforting way.
Grief, and dealing with the death of a loved one is different for everyone. Anna Quindlen was able to touch on that in this in a realistic way through her story of great love for a mom, wife, and best friend. To me, her portrayol of an alcoholic/addict was also spoton. My 3 rating is simply for being a solid story, nothing exciting, no twists, no surprises, just life going on after a loved one dies. Her best book for me is still Black and Blue.
I love stories that are wrapped in love, hope, and forgiveness. I guess my 4 rating is because Nat got annoying, but I think that is the point.
All time favorite author and books. His last few of the Cork O'Connor series aren't his best (still good though), but 1-10 are great!
LOTS going on in this story and it's quite impressive how the author could write using so many characters, across many different timelines. However, this also made it confusing for me to follow; and though it only took me about a week to finish, I felt like I had been reading it for months. But, with all that being said, this was a very good story.
Another good story with a cast of quirky characters all coming together for the sake of a little spitfire named Grace. On a side note, I don't know why the part with Mr. Lafferty, other than the name for the cat and the 3 nice things he did for Grace, needed to happen the way it did, unnecessary in my opinion.
