A lovely fantasy for both adults and children. This book is the meeting point between Lord of the rings and the Chronicles of Narnia, with interesting charcters and a classical kind of adventure. I really appreciated that even being part of a series of 5 books, the ending of this first book sounded like an actual ending, so if you don't want to read the next books you're not forced to and may enjoy it as a short stand-alone.
A very interesting take on the Queen of Hearts before she turned into a ruthless ruler.
The audiobook was amazing, with just one narrator but no problems at all in telling apart all of the different characters (love Rebecca Soler).
I wasn't a fan of the insta-love and of the lack of tension between the main characters (except for the family members..there we had plenty of tension), in some points the narration was a bit dragged on and I hoped for a little bit more of Wonder in the story. On the other hand even if the main character isn't strong willed and does little to achieve her dreams, the overall feeling is that of an almost realistic prequel to Alice's adventures, adding so much more depth to some of the well-known characters.
A lovely and dark fairytale. The artwork is whimsical and enchanting, and the colour scheme is perfect to recreate each and every setting. The story is an interesting twist of a well known story, that makes you think about different points of view on the same truth. This can be a perfect read for both children and adults. Absolutely recommended!
This book is just perfect for summer. Not too long, quite easy to read, entertaining but yet with a couple of deep messages. You definitely have to suspend the disbelief in order to enjoy it at it's fullest. And if you occasionally like a simple, cute and a bit cheesy read, than that's the right book for you!
My probably...5th re-read of this book. Growing up the rating is just a little bit lower than in the past, but it's still lovely
A reread for the 1st time after almost 16 years and it's still amazing after all this time. A unique concept and well developed and deep characters. It will be a joy to reread it all
Loved it, even after all this years! Magical, funny and moving. The only problem that I had was with some characters' age, but I think it was a mistake or it will be addressed in the next books in order to give some explanation.
