I feel like I just didn't connect with this book as much as I did with the first book in this series, I really couldn't tell you why.
Maybe I'd benefit from a reread for this one.
This is the best smutty romance I've read in a long time.
I was actually excited as I read each chapter, because their banter was so good, and actually funny. I absolutely enjoyed their chemistry.
Their were a few cheesy plot points but I didn't mind it at all.
I'm not usually a series girl, but I might read this entire series.
Kicking my feet in the air, losing my shit
I'm such a slut for sports rivals romances oh my god this was so gooddd
The transition from rivals to the spice to them becoming a couple was so seamlessly well done. The author has such a talent for making me absolutely fall in love with Jordan and Theo.
I don't say this too often because it's a little bit ridiculous to say about fictional people but these two are SOO meant for each other.
Also for me excessive British references are a hit or miss but this one absolutely worked
I've read two other Black Diamond Resort books, and this one did such an amazing job with actually describing the resort and the scenic beauty, but also talking about the actual treatment. Just like in the other two books I read, the characters have issues but unlike those two, they were actually properly addressed with therapy
5 stars, no doubt. Obsessed.
Can't wait to read more from this author!!
Wow, i am pleasantly blown away.
Such a good book!!!
Admittedly, the first third of the book was quite slow but once it picked it's pace up, it was so captivating. It had my full attention, and it was suspenseful.
I love the setting and the theme as well, and the representation of workplace sexism and disability that this has.
This made me feel a lot of empathy, and also thoughtful about what being human actually means.
This book definitely made for a very interesting read. It has a small town setting and a complex storyline.
Almost everyone who reads this book mentions that this takes huge inspiration from Stephen King. Particularly IT and Stand By Me, of which have only read the former.
The writing I will say, not nearly as complex as King's writing is. Yet the setting is miraculously similar. Especially because I could see a lot of similarities with IT. A group of 12 year old children (with one redhead girl with an abusive dad), who are going around their town in their little bicycles, getting in trouble with the bullies. Also the 80s setting and a dual timeline. Very similar to IT, like I said.
The plotline changes to a completely different thing towards the end. It gets very messy, a few plot twists are dropped, and the ending felt very confusing.
But it could make sense when you consider that probably what happened is that POTENTIALLY MAJOR SPOILER Eddie is also developing Alzheimer's like his dad and so he's getting things mixed up and forgetting things and maybe what he thinks is the ending is not the ending at all.
Overall this was a good read, if you don't mind being confused and probably not having all your questions answered. I had fun. I'll be checking out more of this author's works.
This is definitely out of my comfort zone as a thriller and horror reader, but oh my god, this is so good.
It's so easy to forget that this is a real story involving real people, because it's so well written.
It's completely respectful to everyone involved, and invoked a sense of massive empathy within me for everyone harmed by this scam, and the message this puts across that the lives of patients comes first and then comes business is so relevant.
I loved this.
Moderately enjoyable book.
Joe Goldberg is definitely a very interesting character to follow and i think I will be reading ahead in this series.
Robyn Harding is guaranteed to give you an addicting read and this delivered.
However I don't think this is a very unique book, the plot was pretty boring and predictable, and there weren't any jaw dropping twists.
It was okay.
If you read a lot of thrillers you could skip this one, but I still had fun because it was fast paced.
Robyn Harding is definitely one of my all time favourite authors, i was absolutely captivated in this story throughout. It's juicy, it's filled with drama and just how much damage one party can do.
That ending, though. So what happens? I wish there was a sequel. Still, i love that there is a glimmer of hope for a happy ending and that's what I'll think lol
This book was much more slow paced than the thrillers I usually go for, but I think the slow pace set up a creepy vibe that i enjoyed in the beginning.
The plot twists weren't all that exciting, some of them just don't make sense to me. I feel like I have a lot of unanswered questions, and felt like some aspects didn't tie in together well.
Hal's character was very interesting to read about because she was so honest, and I haven't read a character with such a strong moral compass before. .
This was my first Ruth Ware read, and I might check out more.
This is the single book that I'll say truly changed my life and the way i look at things.
My main issue with this was that it went on for too long. It felt very slow paced, and nothing much really happens untill half the book, except various forms of Ivy's hate for Lola.
The plot twist was exactly what i thought it was going to be, and overall felt like something I'd read before. None of the characters were likeable.
Still, I'd say the writing was kinda good and it did keep me entertained. Requires suspension of disbelief for sure.
This was much more on the emotional side than the first 2 in the series. I would say if you're looking for some angst, there isn't much here.
However, i think Fabian is one of my all time favourite characters. I was grinning like an idiot when he was talking about wearing makeup, and crying, because I have never read of such a character. Also, their communication was so good.
Overall, this was a book that I would snuggle with on a cold day.
Definitely gonna be reading the remaining books in the series.
I've previously loved John Marrs' work but for some reason this just didn't hit me as hard as those did.
Still would say it's a fun read.
I didn't even know what I was getting myself into, but with everyone describing it as a mindfuck, I was looking forward for it.
Maybe it's just me but the kind of books I would describe as a mindfuck are Iain Reid's books. This was so hard for me to even get through but I decided to read it anyway.
At first it was a typical billionaire romance with a touch of 365 days-esque kidnapping setting. And then it went on for hundreds of pages of just straight up domestic abuse. It was frustrating.
I don't know if the point of the book was to demonstrate their toxic relationship, but the repetitive abuse was just so frustrating. He wouldn't even let her call her own sister, on dozens of occasions. And that was followed by Claire validating his behaviour repeatedly.
Honestly I don't understand how she never even asked him at questions initially about their ‘arrangement'. this is not too far into the book but he basically tells her that he will pay off her debt of 215k in return of her sexual services. But I just cannot get over the fact that he gives her no specificied time period, and him being a billionaire, I'm sure he could pay it off in literally a minute.
The story did get a little fun and tense, but I did not deserve to go through 500 pages of nothing to reach there. I was curious to know what the mind blowing ending was, but if I need to get through this much to find out, I would rather not know. This is just my opinion, but I've read many domestic thrillers with shocking plot twists and a similar vibe, and I think I would just prefer those over this.
I shouldve just dnfd this. this was just not for me.
This is a solid domestic thriller. I finished this in one sitting.
I've read a lot of domestic thrillers so it's nice when a new one drops by and bends the rules a little. This had a nice plot, a fast pace and engaging and addicting writing.
I wouldn't say it hit the 5 stars mark for me, but it was entertaining and worth the while. I enjoyed it.
This is an overdue love letter to each and every woman who walked these fields before me & made the path soft enough for me to walk through.
This was slightly better than the previous ones but I still wish I got more of a poetic feeling out of it, more metaphors and imagery and things like that. Very surface level feminism that i don't disagree with and I'm glad that there are people connecting with this but I wish there was more to say.
All of the oceans and galaxies did not conspire together to create me just so i could reproduce for you.- startling fact #1.
I'll be honest I picked this one up solely by the title and nothing else.
Overall this was a good poetry collection, easy to read and relate to if you're a woman. But I felt like it lacked structure, as in it felt like random thoughts being thrown together but maybe that was the intended effect. Some parts were written beautifully, i especially enjoyed ‘the queen', but others were okay, not the type of poetic beauty in words i was expecting.
However this was a fun change-of-pace read, and i appreciated reading the poet's vulnerable thoughts and feelings and my heart goes out to her and everything she's been through>>>
This felt wayyyy too short I want volume six right now sobs
I have so much love for Nick and Charlie and the entire cast of characters
This whole series is so cute it makes me feel miserably single but in the best way <3
Definitely my favourite in the series so far. It brings me a deep sense of joy that this is what a lot of teens read and I'm happy that this book represents things as well as it does. I loved the happy fluffy vibe it has. I definitely ended up with a crush on Nick myself.
Such a sweet series, this is precious.
Gonna read volume 5 when it's available in my country soon.
