I really enjoyed this book! A few places made me ugly cry and several spots made laugh out loud so this goes to the top shelf as one of my favorite Vi Keeland books of all time ... though I am a little biased since it was a hockey sports romance. ;) It was real and it was great! I recommend it to fans of both Vi and hockey romance. <3
My anticipation for this magical alternate story of Anastasia never seized, but just before it was released I found myself in the hospital so it was difficult to finish all eight-hundred plus pages. I loved this book and I especially loved the beautiful illustrations. You've probably heard Anastasia's haunting story, but you owe it to yourself to read this version. Trust me, It's free on Kindle Unlimited.
This book was fast-paced and riveting. I enjoyed it very much. I'd like to thank the publisher and author for my hardcover copy of this book. It's shiny and green monochromatic slipcover really caught my attention and I couldn't wait to crack it open and begin reading. This was a definite page-turner, although there were some brief moments in the book during which I became a little bored, but that could just be my adult ADHD talking! I highly recommend it for those who enjoy neighborhood scandal and domestic thrillers.
Thank you, Yamile Saied Méndez and Kensington for sending me this book! It is a beautiful book with a bright orange cover with a cute picture that automatically pulled me in the moment I recieved it in the mail. This is a romcom story of thirty year old Nadia Palacio who finally stands up for and decides to celebrate herself after breaking up with her lying, gaslighting boyfriend (fiancé) of five years.
I purchased this as soon as it was released but I actually got really ill and was in the hospital for months and never got around to reading it, and then I think I forgot that I hadn't read it yet. Who knows what was going on back then? The whole world was a crazy place at that time. Anyway, I finally read it and could kick myself for not reading it sooner! It was so good! The mystery was a page-turner and I literally couldn't put it down. I read it straight through and I gave it 5 stars, but one of those stars is for nostalgia alone. Lol I swear, Karin Slaughter mentions so many of the pop culture things in her books that were right up my alley when I was growing up and living in Henry & Clayton County Georgia myself. It's so fun! Like many other readers, I want to read more with Andrea and her partner Catfish, too! This was a great book. Would definitely recommend it to those who enjoy reading thrillers.
This was such an uplifting and fun book to read! It was a clean and sweet romantic comedy. The two main characters were so dynamic together. You don't always get that “chemistry” and connection through the pages when you read a romance, but this one was built up to perfection. Katherine Center is one of my favorite authors because she always delivers a perfectly woven romance. I really could've used this book last year, when I needed this positivity in my life, but I lost all my physical books and wasn't able to buy many new books then. However, blessings are meant to come into our lives right on time - I'm so overjoyed to have found The Bodyguard on Kindle Unlimited and for the audiobook to finally become available on Libby this month. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and encourage them to grab the audiobook as well because Patti Murin did a fabulous job!
3.5 STARS
Thanks to Heidi Perks and Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, Inc., for a copy of this book. I found it to be exciting and fairly fast-paced considering that the story was rather predictable. You can't help but want to finish it to see if your predictions were spot on. I'll definitely watch out for more books by the author!
I borrowed this Kindle Unlimited book, but the Kindle version was on sale today, too, and may still be if you're not a KU subscriber. It was a fast read. You know what's going to happen, but it's fun to read and is so cute.
Through my Bookworm Box subscription I got a limited edition excerpt of Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover. It is so good! I can't wait until release day!
I purchased the audiobook and borrowed the Kindle version through KU. This book was everything I thought it would be and more. It was really sad, so much that I cried during several parts. I had so much sympathy for all the characters and they each had their own reasons for reasons to hold a grudge, but I think being a parent made me relate to Patrick and Grace Landry the most. Colleen Hoover is such a gifted author. I can't wait for her next release!!!
I'd like to thank Sourcebooks for the Kindle copy I won through a Goodreads giveaway drawing of Lucky Leap Day by Ann Marie Walker. I haven't had the pleasure of reading a book by this author before, but I enjoyed this one so much that I'm sure this one will be just the first of many. The story reads just like a rom com movie would and I won't be surprised if it gets picked up. If you like cute romantic comedy books I'd recommend Lucky Leap Day.
Karin Slaughter again has weaved another enjoyable and incredible addition to her Will Trent series. She also brings in Sara Linton from the Grant County series. If you haven't read the previous books in both series, I'd advise you to read them before this one.
Faith left Atlanta P.D. to join the G.B.I. and she becomes Will Trent's partner. They're good for each other, but sometimes Faith doesn't approve of Will's actions or decisions which makes for an entertaining read. This is one weird story line, almost even seemingly impossible, but with all the twists and turns it's a real page-turner.
While reading this one, even 80% invested, I wanted more background but in the end I wasn't let down. When you get there you'll see that it all works. Only one thing really rubbed me the wrong way, and I hope it all leads up to something eventually and that is Amanda's mean ass. Sorry for the language, but the things she said and her behavior toward Will and Faith really brought the G.R.I.T.S. in me out. I want Amanda to be the next casualty.
I read the hardcover book and simultaneously listened to the audio recording, which was excellent. I would highly recommend this.
I purchased the Kindle and Audible version of Shenanigans by Sarina Bowen and I loved it so much! The part that I love the most is the couple were good friends until they got totally wasted drunk in Vegas, so it wsn't insta-lovey. Their banter is hilarious and the book is a fast read. I'd totally recommend it! Keep the hockey romance coming!
Oh, I had to mention to the person who tried to call out Ms. Bowen's writing, penalties are given for body or stick fouls, so it's definitely fine for the author to have written that as an expletive by one of the characters.
I would like to thank Scout Press and NetGalley for sending me a copy of this book. I enjoyed reading it and I also grabbed a copy of the audiobook from Kobo so I could hear the pronunciation of the words from other languages as the linguist tried to find some semblance between the girl's tongue and some of the languages she herself knew. I enjoyed that part of the story, but Nora and “Seal man” were the only 2 likable characters. I have a difficult time reading a book where most of the characters are rude, self-absorbed, and prickly like the rest of them. The author was very creative and clever in how she decided to weave this story and I liked it so I gave it 3 stars.
I chose this as one of my October 2021 Book-of-the-Month selections. A bonus was that the audiobook showed up on Scribd recently. It was a perfect book to read right before Halloween with its spooky vibe, plus the witches, and all. To me, it read like a cozy mystery at first, and then at about halfway through it picked up. I enjoyed it and I'm glad I picked it via BOTM.
I borrowed this book with KU and listened to the audio version that I purchased while I simultaneously read it. It was very scary at first. It was hard to put down this book! I fell asleep at 85% because it was almost 2 a.m. and in the morning I couldn't find my reading glasses because they were all tangled up in my blankets. I gave this book 4 stars. I really wish GoodReads would start a half star option. Definitely would suggest this book to those who like romantic thrillers.
I liked this book pretty much, but there wasn't really anything over the top that made me love it. I noticed a lot of people were reading it and were raving about how awesome it was and how fantastic their relationship is but some of the things that happened in the storyline just came out of nowhere. I even went back to see if perhaps I missed something, but no, I just didn't get some of it at all. Keep in mind that I did like this book and I gave it three stars and I would most likely read other books from this author.
The Mixtape was one of my Amazon First Reads selections for June. I waited for the audiobook to be released before digging in. There were some very sad themes in this book and author Brittainy Cherry executed them well. So well that I actually teared up and at one point I cried pretty heavily. The characters were relatable and even the supporting characters were written well. I loved Oliver and Alex's parents! Their love and fun nature came right off the page. I found myself simultaneously streaming the songs mentioned in the background as I was reading. The audiobook narrators were superb. Warning for a few sensitive subjects that might disturb certain people: death of a twin; rape; suicide; drug use.
This is book 2 in Melanie Harlow's Bellamy Creek series and I enjoyed this book so much! I'd definitely recommend the Kindle and Audible versions with Whispersync to all the romance fans out there. Warning for the reserved types: This author really knows how to write a steamy love scene! The romance is so sweet and who doesn't love the widower single dad trope?
I loved this book! From the very beginning, the dynamic between the main characters was so fun to me. I usually don't like non-linear timelines, but I believe the author, Emily Henry, did a great job at building up to what the root of the breakdown in communication over the years truly was. I usually don't cry while reading, but this one really got to me. This was one of my BOTM selections for April 2021 and I simultaneously listened to the audiobook that I selected via my Kobo audiobook membership. The audiobook was narrated by Julie Whelan and it was so good!
I borrowed this book via KU and purchased the audiobook on Amazon so I could take advantage of the whispersync feature. The Setup is book 6 of Meghan Quinn's sports romance baseball series The Brentwood Boys and it's said that this can be read as a standalone, but I really don't advise it since all the characters show up throughout these books and more is added to their stories as time goes on.

This was one of my August 2021 Book of the Month picks. I simultaneously listened to the Audible version while reading the hardcover. This is a very raw and magical story that covers a lot of territory, but it is short enough to finish in one day. I learned a lot about wolves and the animal nature of humans while reading this book. It was all very interesting and entertaining. I really enjoyed it and would recommend.
This book was so good that I could not put it down! I started it Sunday afternoon and didn't finish it until the wee hours of the morning on Monday. Thankfully, I was off work on Monday and I was able to sleep late. Even so, I probably would've stayed up just so I could finish this book because I loved it and was totally enthralled in it.
In this book, the protagonist (Alison) and her long-time best friend (Liz) end up at the same college as they had always hoped. Liz is not really a good friend, though. Alison starts making more friends and even gets her first boyfriend (Will) soon after starting college and they all start hanging out together. Will is tall, kind, and handsome and they get on very well. However, a serial killer is stalking girls at their college and it appears that Will is keeping some secrets. He is eventually arrested for the string of murders and we find out later that Allison kept a secret herself. Sadly, her best friend Liz had a secret, too. Actions by each of them end up causing a downward spiral of entanglement from which all 3 of them get caught up. One or more of them lose their life (well, life as they know it) and it is due to the deceit! Soon after Liz becomes a victim and is found dead floating in the canal, Will is arrested for all of the murders and is sentenced to live out the remainder of his life in a high security psychiatric facility for criminals, but there is word that he may soon be transferred to a regular prison.
We find that Allison left her home country of Ireland to live in the Netherlands just to get away from everything that happened that first year in college. However, 10 years later, new murders have started up again and Will says he has information that might help them solve who is doing this but he will only tell Alison. After much trepidation, Alison agrees to meet with Will at the facility.
The story travels back-and-forth in time following Alison, Will and the current day murderer.
This book was a very thrilling and it keeps you guessing until the end. At the very end there is a twist that made me yell at my Kindle! I could've done without learning that bit! I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy thrillers like this.
I found the Kindle version on Amazon for a good price. I was looking for books with an Audible Escape accompaniment. It's not Whispersync-enabled, but the audible version is available on Audible Escape if you have it, but only for a couple more weeks. Audible Escape is ending on November 1, 2020, and they're not allowing new subscribers to Audible Escape anymore.
I'm not sure if this will be free on Audible Plus. I'm trying to get in as many books as I can until Nov. 1st. That is why I put a lot of my other TBR books on back burner for now. Audible Plus will have limited books and from what I have seen the amount of selections isn't that promising.
Have you ever had a book on your TBR that you wanted to get around to reading but just had not done it, yet? A book that you kept putting off and then finally decided to read it, because book 2 was already out? Then you wanted to kick yourself because you can't believe you waited so long to read the book ... one that really got to you? That is how Drive Me Wild by Melanie Harlow was for me! It's not only how I felt about the book, but the author, too. I really enjoyed this one and now I'm plowing through Harlow's books like crazy! I'd definitely recommend the Audible and Kindle version with Whispersync to those who enjoy romance novels!
I pre-ordered my signed, personalized copy of Life's Too Short from the Magers & Quinn bookstore and I purchased the audiobook narrated by Christine Lakin and Zachary Webber. I'm pretty sure this will be one of my top favorite books of 2021, and is my #1 so far. There is so much about this book that makes it such a great read that I doubt no review could give it justice so I'm not going to try and list the reasons! Just trust me... it's funny, thought provoking, and will make you gush. <3 <3 <3
I'd like to thank Scribner for sending me a copy of Mirrorland by Carole Johnstone. This story was fantastically dark and magical. I enjoyed it so very much! Yes, I had many questions while reading this book, but as the book came to its end, everything was revealed in a shocking conclusion but I dare not spoil anything for anyone. Let me just say It was so worth it! If you enjoy a thrilling domestic story woven nicely together, you'll probably love Mirrorland just as I did.
