After reading the first book of the series I somewhat was looking for the story of another sister (the two left for the marriage market) instead I found Lady Evelyn (someone that was helped by Lady Rosalind Harrington and the Duke to be free of his cruel abusive/devil husband), and once more was helped by Rosalind to find a solution for her big problem - her aunt died and she needed to vacate the house and find a new way of living - but still afraid for her life, needed to be hiding... posing as Miss Bane, she seeks refuge as a governess in a Baron's household.
Baron James Ayles, haunted by the guilt that he was unable to save his wife, that died in a tragic accident by fire, locked away his heart, and lives only to his twins daughters and work needed to recover all the losses on the estate.
After being meek, submissive with her husband she discovers that she needs to express her feelings about what she thinks is right/better for the future of her pupils... and so it all began...
Slowly they start to see each other with another eyes and in the end after some troubles and miscommunication, they found a way to love...
When Lady Evelyn found love in the arms of her Baron she still had a problem, she didn't know if is formal first husband was still alive... after inquiring in London Baron James ask her to marry him and she was elated but... once more something bad happen... she was almost killed by fire, by a maid that she tought was her friend, and in that final moments she (the maid) confessed she was the one that kill the first wife of Baron James because she was the one that deserves to be married to the Baron.
Entrapped in her room Evelyn try to save herself but in the end she was helped by the Baron...
The emotional roller-coaster and the tension of secrets they both carry almost torn them apart but has adults they found the solution for their problems and the necessary healing of their souls.
And they live happily-ever-after as a family (we must not forget the adorable twins)...
I most thank the author for the opportunity to read this book.
I receive the audiobook link to Youtube and I immediately start listening/reading the book...
And I was hooked by the story, an excellent plot with strong characters, with ups and downs that guided the main characters to find themselves in love...
ALEXANDER -DUKE OF SOMERTON
Has a reputation of being a rogue... His young brother seems to be drinking in excess...
Confronted with the need to be married he remember that his late father was friends with a Lord that had three daughters, and so it all began!
LADY ROSALIND HARRINGTON (the oldest of the sisters) is informed that they will receive the visit of a Duke and that he will be coming to select a wife...
Her two younger sisters have their on reasons to be affraid to be the chosen one... So Rosalind approaches the Duke in the middle of the night and ask him to be the chosen one. He agreed with her and was already impressed with the young woman... but at this point they thougt that this marriage will be a marriage of convenience.
Too many secrets almost torn them apart but love and persistence have a way to correct things and in the end they found that their love was strong and they marry and be forever happy...
After reading this story I travel through to the second book of “The Harrington Sisters”...
I received a ARC copy, and for that I thank the author!
I start to read the book on the spot...
The book has a good plot with well thought caractheres...
A loving love story with adventure and where the main caractheres must fight to achieve their hearts desires... but in the end they are triumphant and lived their happy everlasting love!
I have had a great pleasure reading the book!
Thank you, Daphne Pierce!!!
I receive the anthology as a authors giveaway so, first of all I must thank the authors (Abigail Agar, Aria Norton and Alice Kirks) to the opportunity to read their books.
I always enjoy reading historical, regency, romances that are well thought and have a good plot, like the ones presents in the anthology and of course the opportunity to discover/rediscover some authors...
A collection of 6 books by 3 authors that are well known of the historical/regency romance that always surprise us with a good love story.
The anthology also includes the book “Mismatched with an Earl – Abigail Agar”
I really had a good time reading this Fantasy, Paranormal, young-adult, Sci-Fi book.
Once more I was delighted to see that the author is exploring new “worlds” and giving life to all the characters in it...
A girl died, stroked by a trucker and awaking in another body in a long, long, past era where mythical animals are alive and struggling to survive, like the human been...
She discovers her magic powers and start to training all by herself... meanwhile her father that doesn't know her at all, his order by his King to give in marriage one of his daughters to a Lord that gives terror in the weak hearts (his two daughters refused the honour!!!), with the canning of his to sons he consider to give his “bastard boy” disguised has a woman, but of course, our Goddess, (Eh! Eh!), that her gender had been concealed to protect her from the machinations of a evil father will have the good fortune to get read of a “evil family” and be married with a man she falls hard...
As the story progresses, she starts using her powers to create useful things like good food, medicine, clothes... and a “Castle!!!” with all the amenities of her time (in the future)... well if we could see the faces of all of that people, from a past era, to start leaving and using all the conveniences/gadgets we use to, in our day life, it will be something!!!
Thank you Alexia Praks
First I thank the author for the ARC/giveaway.
Secondly I must express the pleasure I had reading this book... I can say that Aria Norton as a good vein of creativity to plot the intrigue and evolution of such a beautiful love story... All the ingredients are present to entice the reader to follow the story till the end...
The beautiful damsel that must marry to fulfil the expectations of family and society even when she has never see the groom... a groom, a Duke, but first of all a man of action, forced to a military career by a father who only show despise... who also needs to fulfil the expectations of marriage and a heir and a spear... a kind soul that slowly fall in love with his wife...
A love story... -yes I recommend all readers that like historical chick lit with happy-ever-after...
First I must thank the author for the giveaway...
I enjoy reading this book.
A regency, historical love story that appeal for strong feelings with lots of suspense, some mystery, and of course the prejudice of first impressions that must be unravelled by the day-by-day experience of two persons that slowly fell in love and start the construction of something great in their lives...
After reading the Kay Scarpetta series I was hopping for something more... And I most apologize but I'm not convinced that Walter Sickert was Jack the Ripper... some of the must famous painters, writers or creativity people thinkers are indeed very troubled... and even diagnosed with heavy mental problems... they even can have the thought to kill someone and expressed it... but that doesn't qualify that they are really murderers/killers.
The scientific evidences are just that evidences and in some proofed cases they were also wrong.
As expressed by the author in the very beginning she wasn't convinced about the book, she was depressed... and that is expressed through out all along, even when she convinced herself (after all the scientific evidences accumulate that proof that Sickert was the culprit) that she was in the right to accomplish the task.
A really good book with strong characters... two brothers that have a soul-bond with the same woman but their behaviour is radically different (one is “good” -Aidan Butler- and really loves the lady-Kristen Ross-/the other is the “bad” brother-Micah Campbell-...) but both are influenced by a past of hatred and a “curse” that enforce their behaviour.
A very beautiful shy but strong woman...
And a mother that sacrifice her life dying for the love of her sons and, by the magic of the blood, cut the bond with the “bad” brother and through that sacrifice bless them all with a greater future were true love is possible and of course, promptly embraced by the good guy...
Waiting to hear from the bad guy soon... because even bad people could have some good qualities...
