At first I am going to be honest but was hesitant of even finishing this when the mention of Covid 19 pandemic and locked down was mentioned in the beginning. I have bad PTSD from that whole period . But this was interesting how it unraveled and that twist made it glad that I finished it. The jumping back and forth was very confusing but the audiobook did help keep track. I wish i didn't redeem this from my Book of the month subscription since I don't plan to reread this again. but overall it was suspenseful, twisty and one and done.
i needed to take a break for a few weeks to get through this one as i wanted to absorb the world and characters and regions and everything that was action packed in this one. I think i loved this one even more than the prior 2. I personally love a fantasy series that develops and builds to a ultimate moment and maas definitely hit everything on my checklist. I am glad my friend peer pressured me to read this series. I am loving all the characters and the path their arcs are going.
Very dark and intense. they claim its a adult and darker version of harry potter which I can semi agree but some of the things that happen in this book are whoa...kind of depressing, kind of that is beyond disturbing. It was a really good book but some of the content is dark. Have to do at least 4 stars for this one. Some parts were really boring and I almost DNF'd but glad I pushed through it.
Some of the scenes in this one had my stomach curling a lot. Like I get it they are making a horror movie but whoa buddy gorey and gross x.x. Loved the narration of this audiobook, really seemed like it was a mix media book which i loved too. Definitely recommend reading at least once but don't eat anything while you read/listen to it lol.
So many twists and turns but I have to be honest the 4+ point of views was a bit much. Felt rushed towards the end and predictable. I did enjoy rosalies character but quinn and claudia and nick and robert yeah 1 star to them. Not sure how this book is so overhyped. Im rating it 1.5 stars at least I finished it but have seen better thriller books.
it is a rare occasion when i run into a book and realize how much the timing of reading and finishing it was essential to helping me out. The self care i needed was learning through this beautiful book how to grieve and move forward. This book was everything i could ever ask for and was so incredibly done. I had a family member pass recently and i didn’t realize how much time is slipping away and also realizing that what we think is going to last forever can be gone in a instant. I loved the beautiful cranes and magical portals and omg it was everything i ever wanted from a magical realism story, forever staying on my shelf to reread in the future.
I've been taking on a challenge to see if I can guess the ending to a riley sager book. I've read his home before dark, middle of the night, lock every door, and the only one left and so far i am 0/5 now on this challenge. I have to say each riley sager book I consume I am just more and more obsessed with his writing style, the character sets, and the overall stories he builds. definitely 10/10 recommend this one.
