This book wasn't for me. Maybe I wasn't smart enough for this. IDK.
This was weird instead of creepy or spooky. The setting had spooky vibes but the story... It took a dive after being very promising in the beginning.
These characters are EVERYTHING. The trip to Paris was fun, and Elle and Tao... so happy!
I loved it!
3.5 stars
A fun, short prequel. It's the start of Pip's interest in investigation and true crime.
It was fun to see how her brain picked up a lot of stuff!
Loved it! Read it in one sitting, it's a super fast read and so satisfying.
Cute. Sweet. Emotional.
Five Survive is a YA thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Red and five of her friends are traveling in an RV for Spring Break. However, disagreements arise when things don't go as planned, and road trips always have hiccups. It's not surprising that they get lost on the way to the beach, and then the RV breaks down in the middle of nowhere. What's surprising is that a sniper is hunting them and their secrets...
I read this in one day. I couldn't put it down, because I needed to know what was going on. The story was super fast-paced and the claustrophobic setting was cleverly written. My stomach was in knots the whole time I was reading. The characters were interesting, and everyone had secrets that they didn't want to reveal which made everything so much more intriguing. Most of them were unlikable, but even so, it was easy to root for the survival of the majority of them. The tension was high as soon as the RV broke down, and when survival mode hit... It felt like anything could happen.
Holly Jackson's writing and plot devices usually work for me, so it wasn't surprising that I devoured this book in one sitting and enjoyed it a lot. Jackson did a great job keeping me guessing, and the setting was perfect to keep my anxiety high. Even though there were a twist or two that I figure out early on, there were some that I didn't see coming. However, particularly one of the revelations was over the top. It didn't affect my enjoyment, because I was already expecting a crazy twist, and the puzzle pieces fit. It did bother me that one specific aspect concerning the main character wasn't explained, and was only used to add a level of uncertainty to a couple of events.
Overall, a thrilling, suspenseful, entertaining, action-packed, fast-paced YA story with shocking secrets and claustrophobic, tense moments.

I loved this! A very entertaining story, an intriguing mystery, a creepy society, and amazing friendships. I enjoyed the dark academia vibes a lot. The plot was a little predictable but I had fun reading it anyway.
What a journey! This book is my favorite of the first three, I really enjoyed this story! Really loved every Annie/Tyler scenes and Jax and Haley are amazing together.
Enjoyed this book more than the first one. I finally see what Haley sees in Jax and I'm rooting for them. Steamy scenes, angst, Haley evolving into a badass character and Jax is finally showing his character complexity and determination. And that ending... AAAAAHHHHHH
This was wild, wild, wild.
I listened to it in one sitting yesterday and I can't stop thinking about it. Really good. I think this story will stay with me for a while.
I've been in a weird funk lately, the last books I've picked in the romance genre have not been winners for me and I was a little scared of starting this book. Fortunately, I enjoyed Make Up Break Up. I wouldn't say this is an enemies to lovers romance, I think about it more as a rivals to lovers romance.
First of all, I loved Annika! She was fiercely independent, very determined, totally in love with her job and her app, super smart and I loved how she fiercely disliked Hudson. Annika wasn't the easiest of characters. The fact that she was super focused on getting investors made her seem a little self centered sometimes, but I think it made perfect sense considering how passionate she was about her app and how she saw Hudson's app. Honestly, that just made me loved her character more.
Hudson was much more than a hot guy. He was definitely a visionary and a workaholic, very funny, charismatic, loyal to his family and very determined to remain successful. I loved the way we could see that he was also sweet and had a vulnerable side. It would've been perfect if we got interactions with his family in the story.
The tension and the chemistry between Annika and Hudson was freaking amazing and I couldn't put my kindle down so I read it in one sitting. There were a lot of funny moments (the pranks were hilarious), a lot of will they/won't they moments and I enjoyed every single part of their story. Even though they had a fling in the past, the slow burn through the book was so well done.
I really liked the tech setting too: the development of the Make Up app, the PR surrounding the tech world, the struggle to get investors, the financial issues and the fact that sometimes apps aren't exactly used how the app creator thought it would be. The secondary characters were also great and added different layers to their story: June, Annika's best friend and developer; Ziggy, Hudson's VP and Annika's dad. I hope we get June and Ziggy's story too.
I wasn't exactly a fan of the direction that the story went regarding the EPIC investment pitch contest, I was expecting something else entirely. I still loved how this book ended, even though it felt a little rushed. It would have ended smoother with an epilogue. Overall, a cute, entertaining, sweet, funny, charming, refreshing romance in a tech setting.
This is the cutest story EVER! I loved every page of this. Charlie and Nick are so sweet.
Can't wait to read the next volumes!

Rules for Dating your Ex is the ninth book in The Baileys, I've only read one previous book in this series and I really need to go back and read the other books because The Baileys are the funniest family EVER! Piper Rayne's cast of characters is fantastic in this series, the banter between siblings, friends and significant others is amazing and I couldn't get enough of it!
I don't want to spoil the story, so all I can say is that I really enjoyed this second chance romance. I was worried that I wouldn't care much about Jamieson but I loved him! His sexy accent, his relationship with his daughter, how he owned his mistakes and the way he was so, so, so sweet with Sedona won me over. I loved Sedona too, she was an amazing mom and truly an amazing sister with a heart of gold. Their daughter was the sweetest little girl and I pretty much loved every moment between her and Jamieson. The other Baileys as secondary characters provided many hilarious moments, especially their grandmother, and I was so entertained by their antics. I think the story evolved a little too fast at a certain point in the book, which made me wish we had a little more time with Sedona, Jamieson and their daughter as a family. I'm hoping we'll be seeing more of the Baileys in another new series that was hinted in the end of this book. Overall, a very entertaining, sweet second chance romance.
It was cute, and the characters were ok but I wasn't feeling the romance.
I enjoyed The Ex Hex much more, and it influenced my expectations when I started this one. It just wasn't as good for me.
Maybe, more of a case of “It's not the book, it's me.”, so take this rating with a grain of salt.

Angel Mage is the best written book I've read this year. Garth Nix is a painter with words, everything in this world was vivid, interesting and exciting, combine this with an unique magic system and impressive characters like Liliath, Rochefort, Dorotea and Agnez and the result is an amazing story that kept me engaged until the very last word.
The world building is absolutely epic, there's angelic magic, a magic “plague”, a mysterious mission, lots of angels summoned, 4 characters (Agnez, Dorotea, Henri and Simeon) that have a bound they can't explain which leads them to a loyal friendship, a rivalry between Pursuivants (the cardinal's soldiers) and Musketeers (the queen's soldiers) and I couldn't put my Kindle down. This story enthralled me completely, I was invested in these characters' stories and there was actually a time I found myself rooting for Liliath but also rooting for Agnez, Dorotea, Henri and Simeon. I think this speaks volumes about how deep Garth Nix managed to pull me into this book. I loved this society, how there were so many female strong roles and also the diversity in the story. Yet, I'm rating this book 4 stars and not 5 because there was too much information, too much happening at the same time and I think that I would love this more if there had been more depth to some story lines, for example I wanted much more from Rochefort (and her feelings for Dorothea) and from the rivalry between Pursuivants and Muskeeters. I think this story shouldn't have been a standalone, I'm hoping that Garth Nix will give us more from this world. I NEED more! Overall, I highly recommend this book and, after writing this review, I am going to order a physical copy from BD because I need this book in my bookshelf so I can reread again and again.
*I received a copy of this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Garth Nix, Katherine Tegen Books and Edelweiss for providing this copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. *

Sweet Little Lies is the first book in Jill Shalvis' Heartbreaker Bay Series and it's the perfect beginning to this new series.
Finn O'Reily is six-foot plus of awesomeness! Finn and his younger brother Sean own the pub on the ground floor of the courtyard of Pru's apartment and it's impossible not to notice Finn... He's hot, sexy and really hard working. He devotes most of his time to their pub and to keep his brother in line. (Let me say that I loved Sean, he's hilarious! He knows all too well how to push Finn's buttons exactly like close brothers do.)
Pru is captain of a San Francisco Bay tour boat, she recently moved to a new apartment and just started to get to know her neighbors. She's cute, funny and sweet but she's lonely. What really defines Pru is her huge heart. I loved how she's incredibly selfless. She's always thinking about helping people and part of this is because she has a huge guilt complex. She knows exactly who Finn is and she also knows she can't fall in love with him. She just didn't count on Finn being so swoon-worthy...
I loved all the characters! Finn's friends quickly welcomed Pru into their group, they are really close to each other and they've got each other's backs, their banter and their sense of humor is nothing short of perfect and I can't wait to get their stories (especially Elle's book!).
The chemistry between Finn and Pru is off the charts! I mean Finn is PERFECT! He's definitely on my book boyfriend list. Their relationship progresses smoothly and even though Pru tries to keep him at arm's length, Finn isn't having any of it but will Pru finally tell Finn her secret? Will Fin understand Pru's motives?
Sweet Little Lies is a fantastic start to this new series but it's so much more than that. This is a must read book with a perfect amount of romance, heat, true friendship, a little bit of angst and forgiveness! You can't go wrong with a Jill Shalvis' book and Sweet Little Lies is another 2016 top favorite of mine!
I received a copy of this book from HarperCollins via Edelweiss.
This was a really good book.
First of all, in YA Mystery/Thrillers I tend to dislike the protagonists, Pip was a dream to me! I loved her! She was smart, driven, brave and I loved her relationship with her parents - this may seem like a strange point to make but it's very refreshing, to me, to see a healthy relationship with the parents in a YA book. Ravi was a star too! I absolutely loved him! Following these two while they investigated was a great experience.
The format of this book was very interesting too. Pip was investigating the closed case for her school project which means we get interviews, photos, emails, etc, it was very engaging.
The writing was very good too, IMO. HJ managed to keep me invested and succeed in confusing me with very, very suspicious characters, that were intertwined in this story. There were a lot of suspicious situations and shady characters in this town. Super entertaining!
The ending took me by surprise. The twists were really well done. I guessed a certain someone was involved in it, even though I was not SURE at all, but the WHOLE thing... Very surprising!
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot! I'll definitely read the next one.
Still not entirely sure if I should rate this 3/3.5/4 stars... Maybe?
IDK. I have to collect my thoughts on this one. I'm still confused and it's been two days.
Review coming soon.
Office Mate is the perfect enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance!
First of all, after finishing Office Mate I'm beating myself up because I haven't read Running Mate yet and now I really want to read Barrett's story.
I can't tell who I love more: Thorn or Isabel. Honestly, I fell head over heels for both of them!
Thorn was forced to give up his career in the military for his team and his own security, now that his father was the President, he would put his team at risk just by being on it. But having a career in the military was always his dream and that means his adjustment to civilian life isn't going very well, furthermore he's struggling with PTSD, so when he starts a job that he doesn't really want, he isn't expecting the fiery, beautiful, sexy that batles him at every turn...
Isabel is a small town girl who studied and worked really hard to have a bright future and a successful career. She's a perfectionist workaholic and she's really angry that all her extra hours and hard work didn't get her the promotion she fought so hard for. Now, she has to help Thorn to transition into the job that was supposed to be hers. So, she knows she has to sabotage him to get her very deserved promotion. But then there's that amazing chemistry between them...
I think that two of the main reasons I loved this story was: 1) Thorn isn't a playboy, sleeping around with every female available (I'm a little tired of playboys, can you tell?); 2) it's a slow burn romance and I was desperately needing one (also kind of tired of insta love “let's bang now” stories).
Overall, I really loved the characters, their background and how they were slowly falling in love with each other, the sabotage was hilarious, their chemistry is off the charts and I also loved the secondary characters, Office Mate is the perfect summer romance! (and now I'm just wishing for Ty's story...)
