This was a nice little vampire book. The language of the time this was written read in modern day kinda adds to the mysticism of the vampire. Makes me want to read fantasy for some reason….
I really have to say this hits hard on the family trauma. The author has either experienced it or did their research well. I kinda guessed the ending a little but it didn't bother me because it was different enough from what I was expecting.
This is the first horror book I've ever read so I went small and dipped my toes into the genre. I had pretty high expectations and this book still delivered on what I was looking for. Would be a five out of five but the ending felt wrong to me and rushed so I dropped a star.
This was my first Hendrix read but I've heard so many good things about them. I think this book lived up to my expectations. I love a friendship story and vampires so why wouldn't I love this book?! I did find it a bit slow but I loved all the little inner monologue and time they took to build these ladies characters. Can't wait for my next read from Hendrix, even the new book coming out next year, pregnant witches? Hell yeah!
2.5 ⭐️'s
The start to this book was rough. It almost deterred me from reading the rest but I'm kinda glad I trudged through. It wasn't an amazing book by any means but it was somewhat enjoyable. I am left with a lot of questions and confusion but for a fantasy book this was a pretty short read so maybe the rest of the series will answer those questions? That's if I decide to continue. I have a lot of issues with Midas and Auren's relationship, giving Tampon from the ACOTR series but so much worse, I really hope we are supposed to hate Midas in the end. I also found Auren absolutely awful for so much of this book she only gets slightly less terrible towards the end. There's a few other gripes but it's giving knock off Sarah J. Maas but worse.
It has been a long journey with this book to say the least. I picked it up months ago and have read a chapter here or there, until my cousin decided to pick of the series and I plowed through 300 pages in three days so she could borrow this book lol. I would have gave it a 4 star but I just felt like it was too long in a way and then too short in others. I hate the fact that literally side characters with no worth to the story over all are the ones that parish and Maas tries to bring a tear jerkers when she does this. It's dumb. I love the characters but sis if you want me to cry kill somebody that you have lead us to love, because yes, you've made very lovable characters and no I don't want to see them die but if you want impact you gotta do what you gotta do. With that said I do plan on at least reading the 4th book, but I don't know if I can tackle another big boy from Maas, just not my speed I guess.
If you like unkillable main casts, redemption arch's, and “rude gestures” or just can't leave a series unfinished I guess just keep trucking. There's twists, tear jerkers, and fast paced endings like in the rest of this series so it's not disappointing or anything. Just kinda mid.
This book will stick with me for a long time. I got half way and I was like “how am I going to write a review for this?!” This could honestly be considered horror, true gut wrenching horror. This book is depraved, disgusting, disturbing, but most importantly, human. The author gives you in depth thoughts from these monsters of man but somehow deep down in all the tar and gunk there is a twinkle of humanity. Not enough to feel sorry for them but enough to see they are just people and not some supernatural poltergeist. Which to me made this even more terrifying.
This is not an easy book to recommend, I personally jumped in blind from a YouTuber's list of disturbing books. The fact that this book doesn't have a formal trigger warning page is kinda insane. I knew it was going to be rough, but this? Are you okay Melchor? Is the translator okay? Are any of us okay?

I started this book as a joke, well jokes on me I enjoyed it throughly! The main character, so relatable. The man, so sweet and charming. The humor, spot on. The spice, oof (positively). I love the side characters, the town, everything! AGH! This is what I needed. A light fun little story albeit weird to warm my cold dead heart.
Midlife crisis vampire best friends? Yes please.
I binged it in two days! Insane. This is such a lovely little story on friendship, growing older, and most importantly about living. I could have had more though (you could say I'm “so thirsty” for more
This is bad, I knew going in it was going to be bad. I was hopeful it would be hilariously bad but to my disappointment it was not. Just regular old bad. My neck about broke from the whiplash from the FMC hating the MMC to being deeply in love with him. The over the top wealth of this mob family is laughable. The sex scenes are dull and short or just weird (what's up with the lemon?). Everyone in this book has soup for brains. 2 stars because I can't put 1.5. I realize it could be worse but this was still pretty bad.
