I am very disappointed with what happened to the characters.

They were all scrub up and remade. This isn't the Zetian or Yizhi I knew. 

The communism was shoved down my throat as the best idea ever. I do not like books telling me what to think. 

This book was fascinating, if you are looking for a complex protagonist, multifaceted characters and a well put together world I recommend this absolutely. 
The only thing I could critique is the amount of violence and death but it is understandable.
10/10 would recommend

Maybe it is fault of the translation but the way it was written was confusing at times. 

Everything happened very suddently with a Lot of time wasted on telling us unnecesary information or nonsencical scenes. 

It had a good idea but excecuted poorly.

Shernie is such a good story taller. I loved her book. I can't wait to read more from her.

I love lesbians

The book is a sweet story about personal growth and following your dreams. It teaches you about the treasure is the journey and what you learn.

It's a cute story with a original premise. It was an enjoyable and easy read.
The characters are diverse but I thought they were a little bit one-dimensional.
The plot was predictible and a little rushed. 

Outside of critism I enjoyed the book, because of the ambience, every scene is beautiful, and the writting style is amazing with different voices for each narrator.

I know this is the first book of the Author and I genuinely think this is very good for a start. I would love to read more from them in the future.

A fun story, if only a bit long. The characters are very interesting and the world building is solid.

I disliked the two main characters so much. They were spoiled brats and feels too stupid to be explained as ‘they are teens'. The relationship is so toxic that it's  funny this is a romance.

Please do not read it is just boring and annoying

I feel that this book has the mayor defect that Yangchen, unlike her counterpart Kyoshi is perfect. She can do no wrong and doesn't need to change in the whole book, she has no depth or complications. 

She isn't the best character in her own story, having her companion be the protagonist, and a weak one at that.

The book was boring, little world exploring, flat characters and felt so slow.

What the heck did I just read... Ew. Just... No.

Would die for my dead <\spoiler> gay sons...Being serious, this book made me sob and destroyed me. It made me so happy that I read such an amazing and well written book.I love the characters and the idea of seeing the war in a first person basis.

Overall a good book, the pacing was really nice and the references funny. I would only criticise the sex scenes that felt kind of unnecessary. Outside of that a very sweet and fun book for anyone LGBTQAI+ or an Ally.
