Dark, fantastical, brilliant!

I got this through GoodReads First Reads and having read some of the reviews was a bit dubious, however I've got to say I quite liked it.

If you read it, you MUST take it completely as a fantasy book and not try to take any historical accuracy from the story.Once you have accepted that, the book us quite enjoyable. The characters are well described although some of the detail is a little repetitive. (i.e. Did you know the parents are archeologists??)

The bad guys in the story do feel quite menacing on occasion and the description of the shadow realm is done quite nicely.

Overall a good read.

I have to say for a debut book mixing period romance with a sci-fi ish twist this was really good. There was the right amount of both genres it works really well. Overall a very enjoyable read, but it did end a bit abruptly.

An absolutely fantastic conclusion to the Demon Cycle series. Lots of twists and turns all the way through the book, very gripping, loved it.

I got this book through GoodReads First Reads and at first I was a bit skeptical. It's not the kind of book I usually read. However I'm very pleased to report the story dragged me in and I actually really enjoyed it and will be looking out for other titles from this author.
