I recently finished reading “The Maddest Obsession” by Danielle Lori, a novel that intertwines romance with a dark, thrilling narrative. While I appreciated the storyline and the emotional depth it aimed to explore, I found myself struggling to fully engage with the text. There were moments when I had to put the book down and walk away, only to return later, which diminished the seamless immersion into the world Lori created. The character of Gianna, the female lead, was certainly a challenge to navigate. Her complexity and boldness made her a captivating, albeit sometimes overwhelming, presence in the story. While I recognized her strength, her character traits occasionally felt excessive. In contrast, the male protagonist, Christian, was the standout for me. His obsession with Gianna was intoxicating and left me secretly yearning for someone who could feel that passionately about me. This dynamic between them added a layer of intensity that kept me invested in their relationship, even when the narrative itself faltered. One of the enjoyable aspects of “The Maddest Obsession” was the inclusion of familiar characters from Lori's previous work. These cameos provided a sense of continuity and connection to the larger universe she has built, which fans of her earlier books would surely appreciate. However, despite these familiar faces, the predictability of the plot was hard to ignore. It was evident from early on that Gianna and Christian were destined to end up together, which took away some of the suspense that I typically crave in a romance novel. Overall, while “The Maddest Obsession” delivered an easy reading experience, it didn't captivate my attention as much as I had hoped. The storyline had potential, and the characters were intriguing, but the pacing and predictability diminished the impact of the narrative. For readers who enjoy a swoon-worthy romance interspersed with familiar faces, this book may still be worth the read, but for me, it fell short of the gripping experience I was seeking.

So, I finally caved and read “Satan's Affair,” and I totally get what all the hype is about! I flew through it in a single day—talk about a page-turner! It's a bit different from my usual reading choices, but I'd heard so many good things, I had to see what all the fuss was about. There were definitely some intense moments, but Sibby's story really pulled me in. Her childhood memories? Ugh, my heart broke for her. And that ending?! Seriously, I was so invested in her by that point. “Haunting Adeline” is up next, and I can't wait! I think I've discovered a new genre of books!!

I couldn't put this book down! I loved the plot of the story and the banter between Kate and Nico. I need a man like Nico!! There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for Kate.
It's a feel good book with a good amount of spice to it and I am a sucker for a happy ending.
It was easy to get attached to both of them!
Hard to believe this was Rae's debut book!
I can't wait to read the second one!

I just finished reading this book that I really wanted to enjoy.

As a big fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and someone who has recently become interested in the Savannah Bananas, I thought this story would be right up my alley.

However, it did not hold my interest as much as I had hoped.

The book features a cute story about a grumpy guy and a girl who seem to dislike each other at first. They have a night out that includes dancing, and from that moment on, their love story begins.

While I appreciate the idea of a classic enemies-to-lovers plot, I found that it did not fully engage me.

One thing I liked was that the author plans to change the names of the players in the story.
The original names felt too close to real Phillies players, which made it a bit uncomfortable for me. I think changing the names will help readers connect with the story without feeling distracted.

However, there were aspects of the main female character (FMC) that I found off-putting. She kept talking about her crush on the main male character (MMC) in a way that felt cringy and child-like.
It was clear that she liked him and was surprised that he was attracted to her, but this repeated emphasis began to feel excessive.

As a reader, I wanted more depth in her character rather than just a focus on her infatuation.

On the positive side, the book did contain some good spicy scenes that added excitement to the story. These moments kept me interested and provided a nice contrast to the more mundane parts of the plot.

However, despite these enjoyable scenes, the overall story fell a little flat for me.

While the book had potential with its cute storyline and some engaging moments, it ultimately did not keep my interest.
