Star Wars Canon is a 97-book series with 94 released primary works first released in 1976 with contributions by Terry Brooks, R. A. Salvatore, Karen Traviss, Matthew Woodring Stover, Mur Lafferty, Alexander Freed, George Lucas, Alan Dean Foster, Donald F. Glut, James Kahn, Jason Fry, Rae Carson, Daniel José Older, John Jackson Miller, James Luceno, Paul S. Kemp, Greg Rucka, Kevin Hearne, Chuck Wendig, Claudia Gray, Christie Golden, E.K. Johnston, Landry Q. Walker, Timothy Zahn, Saladin Ahmed, Mira Grant, Ken Liu, Beth Revis, Delilah S. Dawson, Kevin Shinick, Zoraida Córdova, Rebecca Roanhorse, Cavan Scott, Albert Agut Iglesias, Alex Segura, Sarah Kuhn, Justina Ireland, Charles Soule, Tessa Gratton, Kiersten White, Mike Chen, George Mann, Lydia Kang, Sam Maggs, and Kelly Thompson. 1 book is still to be released. In 2014, when Disney restructured the Star Wars continuity, the existing Expanded Universe (EU) was rebranded as Star Wars Legends. These older books, comics, and stories—originally considered part of the timeline—were declared non-canon to make way for a new, unified narrative. From that point forward, all newly published books became part of the official Disney-era canon, starting with A New Dawn, and are coordinated with films, TV series, and other media to maintain consistency across the franchise.
