On Astral Tides - From Humble Freelancer To Astral Emperor

When the Apocalypse looms large, one man steps up to save the world, but not alone...

One fateful evening, Akio, having moved from his humble town in the mountains to the outskirts of big-city Tokyo, found his mundane life changed forever by a mysterious, angelic visitor. This being revealed the shocking truth, that Earth, once long ago a land of myth and magic, was once again going to be buffeted by the Astral tides, beings of unimaginable power eyeing our world as if it was a ripe fruit for the plucking.
As one of the fortunate few to be compatible with the gifts of the Gods, Akio resolved to use his newfound power to fight to protect Earth and those he held dear within it. He soon discovered that the Astral was a mirror world alongside our own, full of monsters, faeries and other intelligent beings, all with their own agendas. Despite this, Akio would strive to build a Territory, a land within the Astral that was his own, soon realising that our ordinary world influenced and could be directly influenced by the Astral, so not only did he need to triumph in bloody battles, but he also must find a way to become wealthy to secure what he needs to protect himself and those he cherishes.

But he is not chosen alone. The old myths and legends of Earth are returning, alien invaders wait eagerly outside on the Astral tides, Cultivators are looking for their next faces to slap, secret societies are rising again after a millennia-long silence, demons whisper poison into the ears of any who would listen, and the messengers of the Gods who chose others such as Akio were making a number of truly questionable choices...
So, Akio, through battle, diplomacy and good, old-fashioned charm, gathers trusted allies and armies to combat these many threats, aiming to build up an unassailable force and Territory, to eventually scale the heights of Astral Emperor, and rule the very Earth itself. It will be an almost impossible challenge, but when starting from humble beginnings, the only way is upwards...
