Alexis has small goals in life. Achieving the small goals has been tough enough that she doesn’t even like to think about the big goals. Small goals keep her unofficially adopted teenage kids safe, fed, and sheltered.

When a rich big-shot almost runs her down with his car, she couldn’t be less interested in him or whatever it is he wants. She is too busy hiding her magical abilities and trying to survive to be bothered by some overly-handsome bossy man.

Except she can’t hide her magical abilities from that bossy man, and suddenly her whole life takes a turn.
