You Were Never Really Here

There wasn't anything particularly original presented in the story, so I can't give it full marks. It was a pretty standard revenge story in a way. However, the way the story was told was tight and you can blow through it in a single sitting. There is a fair amount of story packed into that little space.

edited it's easier to miss how long an ebook is and I was not ready for this to give me a novella ending instead of launching into revengefest. I think Lee Child's Jack Reacher is a fair comparison otherwise except with more PSTD and abuse. I had trouble swallowing some of the rationalization/motivations for some of the characters - I have trouble with sexual trafficking storylines in general. Grumble

A very short novella. Very pacey, but the conclusion comes far too quickly, as though the author became bored.

Noir that was too dark for me. Recommended from Super Punch and he's done right by me in the past.

I've got a 13-year old daughter so the plot points based around the one in this story were disturbing to the point of taking enjoyment away.
