Some how many of the historical romances I've been reading recently involve widows or spinsters... don't ask me why this has come about. I will say this was an interesting take. The mystery of the murder and following murders is very central to the book. I do prefer when a book is more than just a romance, so trying to figure out not only who the murderer is, but also how the orphanage would keep open kept me curious.

The couple... to be honest I don't remember much about. I read this 2-3 days prior and I have read a few books in between, but the main thing I remember is that Caire is pained when touched and has sex with women when they are tied up while Temperance feels guilty about having sexual urges. So, sexually they really work out. I guess I liked them?

I read some of the synopses for future books and some couples and plots do intrigue me, but this isn't a series I'm dying to continue. I might later though.
