When Harry Met Minnie

Martha Teichner of Sunday Morning had a bull terrier and lived in NYC. She found out through a friend that another friend of his also had one who was about 8 years old, had health issues, and she wanted to find a new home as she had terminal cancer. The book is that story. Martha befriended the woman, Carol, and became close friends in the few months that Carol had left. Their dogs fall in love, too. Carol died. Then did her dog. Very sad and happy, upbeat and depressing, inspiring, funny and sad.

This was recommended to me by my aunt and I'm glad I picked it up. I enjoy memoirs and haven't read one quite like this. Pets are special creatures who add so much joy and craziness to our lives. So much so they are family more than mere pets.

Harry and Minnie's story is a sweet one filled with love while at the same time wrapped in new friendships and beginnings. I laughed. I cried. My heart broke and loved it. Definitely recommend this one.
