We Are the Wildcats

I became really invested in this team while reading. I thought the author did a great job of constructing a high school team, along with all the pressures and emotional connections that come along with the sport. The suspenseful tone really carried me through the story, although it also made me expect a shock that never really came. Still, this book takes a bite out of gaslighting and corrupted power dynamics in a way that felt empowering. Shout out to my varsity field hockey coach, who was nothing like the sad twisted pile of toxic waste that the wildcats were subjected to.
