When Owen finds a deaf woman on the shoreline of Stepping Stones Island, he at first thinks she's been gravely injured, since she doesn't answer his calls and questions. He's so stunned by the realization of his mistake that he doesn't get off on the best of terms with her. He's even more stunned when he reports for his new undercover job as a schoolteacher and finds her again as the new principal he's there to investigate.
I know several deaf people (our church has a deaf church on site) and I've always thought it would be nice to be able to communicate with them, but keep “not having time.” I need to make time!
Another thing I really appreciated was that they didn't get all swoony over body parts. No sweaty six packs, etc etc. Thanks, Katy Lee! :)
