Walt and Pepper

As a child, I had a well-loved copy of this book handed down from my older cousin. I can still smell the distinct scent of the pages and envision the artwork when I remember this book. Many years were spent reading it and even playing Walt and Pepper with plushies. It shatters my heart that my copy was passed on to someone in the family who didn't know how to properly treat books - especially since it appears to no longer be in print.

Why do I share this? To let you know how much this book means to me. It's that compelling, that entertaining to a child who adores animals, and that well-expressed through the words and illustrations. I would recommend anyone with access to a copy share this with the children in their lives.
