I have to thank romanceoply for getting me to read the first book in this series years ago. I immediately fell in love with Eve and Roark and 6 books in and I am still loving it. Lets hope that love continues on because this series is massive.
In the previous books we know that Roark hasn't always been on the right side of the law and in this book we learn more about his past which I loved. I also loved how Eve opened up a bit more in this book as well. She's always had trouble expressing her feelings and opening up but you see her make some progress in this book. Eve and Roark are still amazing. I love that an “ex” bad guy and a cop fell in love and got married and I am loving seeing how they navigate that little obstacle.
A big reason I love this series is because there is a great balance between the romance aspect and the suspense aspect. We get to see Eve actually investigating crimes and the romance is woven in perfectly. I really hope I don't wait so long to read the next book in the series this time.
Perhaps my favorite In Death yet!
Eve and Peabody have great banter and it is hard to pick just a few moments to share because sometimes that means sharing a whole page. Truly love the dialogue in these books. Even the talking between Eve and Roarke can be entertain, but also shows how healthy relationships work out problems. Eve and Sommerset dialogue I did miss, but I'm sure it will be back in full force in the next book ^_^
The mystery is one where I didn't figure it out in time. It was surprising and nice :) I'm very glad it wasn't who it could have been, but I feel like I also knew it couldn't be that person because I know they show up later too lol.
All in all an amazing series. I have the next few books from the library just waiting to be read!
