16-year-old Bella Swan moves to rainy, sunless Forks, Washington to be with her dad. There she meets Edward Cullen, a member of a family of vampires who live among the people and only feed on animal blood instead of humans. The two fall in love and do everything they can to be together, despite their extreme differences. This book is part of the Twilight series that includes 3 other books and a novella.

This book has become an international phenomenon and it's easy to see why – young girls will love the passionate romance that Edward and Bella share. Moms will also like how their romance is only limited to kissing and nothing more. At times, Edward can be a bit too controlling and Bella could be more of an independent character. However, the book is a fascinating read that I could not bring myself to put down. This book could also be a “lead-in” to Jane Austen's books, as Bella mentions several in the text.
