Treacle Walker

Hard for me to follow - is it an Alice in Wonderland type story? An imaginary friend story? A supernatural one? Didn't quite get the writing style, and sometimes even the language. Still don't really see the point of the tale, but maybe I'm the one being ‘daft' ...as they would say.
