This was about a 3.75 for me. Nothing much happened, but it was so light and pleasant that I really enjoyed the read. Lara Jean has been sheltered by her sister all her life, and when it's time for her sister to go off to college, she has to step up and be the older sister for the third sister. She has to face her fear of driving, then her fear of boys. She's lived under a figurative rock for awhile, making fantasies of guys instead of really knowing them, and when she ends up in a fake-dating relationship through a hilariously messed-up series of events, she actually begins to get to know a guy in a real sense. She even has to face her ultimate fear of the gossip caused by the jealousy of his ex-girlfriend, who suddenly realizes she's not the only girl in the world to the fascinating, handsome Peter Kavinsky.
I won't give away any of how the story develops...but I did really like the lack of smut in this book. There is some referred to on the side, but the plot does not grovel in violence or sex, which is so refreshing! There were a few swear words and one f-bomb; otherwise it would have been gloriously prefect. I'm excited to see that there's going to be a sequel and will definitely read it.
