Ties is the story of a marriage. Like many marriages, this one has been subject to strain, to attrition, to the burden of routine. Yet it has survived intact. Or so things appear. The rupture in Vanda and Aldo's marriage lies years in the past, but if one looks closely enough, the fissures and fault lines are evident. Their marriage is a cracked vase that may shatter at the slightest touch. Or perhaps it has already shattered, and nobody is willing to acknowledge the fact.

Absolutely devastating. Relationships are prisons!
I'm really tired of reading novels about straight people cheating on each other, but this psychological drama was reallllly solid.
Que livro interessante! Revolvendo sobre um tópico, ao mesmo tempo multiplicando-o por dez, ele faz um vai e volta pelo tempo, personagens, sentimentos e surpresas, da passividade à loucura agressiva.
Beautifully done! I loved the different voices of the characters and you could feel the original Italian even through the translation (props to the translator!!)
Part one really pulled me in, part two lagged a bit (partly because the character was so unlikable to me) and part three really ended it with a bang. Recommend recommend!! Side note: this book is best read in one sitting!
