Great descriptions of thoughts and feelings that usually stay undescribed. Nostalgic. A very good writer, however, the book moves very slowly. Too slowly. Not my cup of tea normally. Near the last third I started skipping less relevant scenes. The plot is very nice, too. It all works out in a way.
beautiful, but...
The writing was simply beautiful, but some sentences overlong. The prose was quote-worthy, but the pages too many. All in all, a heart warming tale of a bygone age.
Beautiful and poignant. His command of language and human nature and relationships — sublime. It is a slow story, though, and I was listening in small sips This is a salve for the weary. And if you enjoy the Irish brogue, it's a fun listen.
