I'm not sure what I can say about this book. It wasn't a joy to read, it was heartbreaking. Knowing the horrible things your country has done isn't easy to read, but it is necessary. This book is so, so powerful. It does draw the reader into their plight, which I think makes everything hit home even harder. It is engaging and I couldn't stop reading even though I found myself getting emotional from time to time. It is devastating.

I thought I knew how horrible the internment camps were... I didn't. This book is very informative without being dry. This is one teachers should add to their curriculum to add depth and understanding to their lessons on WWII.
