this book had me wanting more & more! i was on the edge of my seat the entire time. it was multiple pov's while we also learned more about the case. it was nice to learn the background of everyone involved separately. i was wrong about what happened to regina & steven, but i did enjoy the twist about what actually happened. i also really loved sally. i'm not usually one for enjoying kids in books, but sally was so sweet! i would definitely recommend to those who like thrillers!
So many interesting characters all woven together beautifully! We have Windower, Bill, and his young daughter, Sally, for whom money is tight and he has a bit of a bad habit he really needs to break if he wants to make things right again. Then we have Karla, a smart student aspiring to be a judge, who has taken great strides to get away from her less-than-perfect past. Karla responds to Bill's ad looking for a lodger to help with the rent and seems to fit in quite well, befriending Sally and becoming almost “part of the family” in her own way. Karla takes a housecleaning job with Steven and Regina Rytter, a wealthy couple that have their own personal issues – until they turn up dead, that is, and everyone has a motive. Lastly, we have Jennica, who is unknowingly having an affair with Steven, when he claims to be a widow, meanwhile, his sickly wife is at home thinking her Dr husband is just working hard... and Jennica knows BIll through his deceased wife - so the circle is now complete. While I found myself not personally liking many of the characters, they were all well-developed, with detailed histories. I was drawn into their stories and just had to know how it was all connected. Told through multiple POVs, and some chapters were excerpts from police interviews. Loved the twisty ending - highly recommended read!
