This was lovely, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There's some bits where the concept gets a little tiring-dad speaks mostly in Shakespeare references and the characters hammer in their love of books at least once every few pages, but overall, this was a gentle novel of siblings growing and learning about themselves and each other and mutually supporting one another, and it's nice to read.
This is a book that doesn't really have a plot - it just follows a few months in the lives of three sisters. It took me awhile to get used to the narrator - Brown used a first person plural narrative - because it really drove me crazy trying to figure out who the heck was talking.
I loved this story. The characters are well formed and enough depth was put into the story that I didn't finish it feeling neglected. I could relate to several parts since I also have multiple sisters, and we too are weird. I loved the quote, from Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice, “Besides, the lottery of my destiny bars me the right of voluntary choosing”. I will recommend this book and look forward to reading another from this author.
