The War of Mists

I am seriously disappointed in this book. I had such high hopes and then ... well then. I thought the dialogue was painful and the descriptions were boring and the overiding story was predictable and endless and then it ended, kinda. What is it with books and completely open ended endings? I get that it was part of a trilogy (or more who knows) but when you have YEARS between publication, would it kill the author to just wrap up a few loose ends. I did not enjoy it and I will not be reading the third book.
