I borrowed this book with Kindle Unlimited and purchased the audible version so I could use Whispersync to read and listen simultaneously. I originally gave this book 4 stars, but came back the next day to give it 5 stars instead because I could not stop thinking about it! I usually don't like slow burn romances because I get bored if things go too slowly. However, this book had the perfect build up. It was a very entertaining story and I'm sure that I'll be reading it again in a few years when I've forgotten the details. I would definitely recommend The Wall of Winnipeg by Marianna Zapata to my friends who enjoy romance novels.
I'll keep it short.
1) The intro was full of the MC's rambling, and pretty redundant, thoughts but toil through bc...
2) I stayed up till 4:42 AM to finish this. Enough said.
P.S. I need Aiden's POV stat.
My first [a:Mariana Zapata 5760202 Mariana Zapata https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1330380214p2/5760202.jpg] read was [b:Lingus 13500758 Lingus Mariana Zapata https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1330240154s/13500758.jpg 19047610] and though it started off okay the last third sort of took a nose dive for me which is why I approached this with a little bit of trepidation. Also it's 16 hours long!Don't fear. You're in good hands all around. MZ wrote an excellent slow slow slow burn story which reads utterly authentic and [a:Callie Dalton 7438028 Callie Dalton https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] delivers the goods with heart to spare. I loved it.
Stayed up all night reading this book it was that addicting. It distracted me during New Year's Eve until 3...2...1. Then I kept reading until 9 in the morning.
I really liked the slow burn romance and that the author mainly focused on the two main characters–Aiden and Vanessa. I loved their characters, how hardheaded they both were, how committed to their careers they were and loved that about each other, how determined they were not to fear their pasts but overcome it. The only critique I have about the book is the length. The beginning spent a bit too much time on exposition and it led me to skimming some unimportant/repetitive bits.
Other than that I'd like to go back and reread it again and take my time with it because I was definitely bleary eyed towards the end. Highly recommend if you want to read a sports romance done right, that focuses and prioritizes developing the main relationship, and has really great main characters.
