I LOVE the premise of this book. So much fun banter and so many good romance trope references. My only complaint is that I thought the ending was pretty predictable, but didn't have enough awww factor or unpredictability to feel rewarding enough.
That was one heck of an audio!
I don't usually like books that focus on reality TV but this one was great!
I really enjoyed this book!
I don't think I loved it AS MUCH as the first book, but I loved Connor and Fizzy's story!
Overall enjoyed but something about the logistics of this I didn't like. And it was almost too easy of a road for the love interests.

Well this was adorable. I loved the fun banter, seeking adventure and joy, and the ending was perfect!

Connor, un o productor de documentales que tiene una hija (steve). A Connor le asignan producir un reality show y escoge a Fizzy como su mainlead.
El show consta de Fizzy y 8 “héroes” que representan a 8 diferentes arquetipos (hot nerd, runaway love, etc.) para encontrar la mejor match, el público cada semana eligira quien sale. A cada héroe se hizo su DNADuo para saber qué tipo de match son y en la final dicen que match son (base, gold, diamond), el héroe que quede hasta el final se va de viaje con Fizzy. Filman cuatro días de la semana y el domingo eligen que héroes salen.
Connor y Fizzy tienen atracción pero es medio prohibida/ secreta y hasta la final quedan juntos y el le hace un videito con todos sus momentos.
Fizzy es súper alegre, tiene charisma, sabe manejar una habitación
Lots of potential, too much ick. Didn't like either main character. By the time the MMC admitted he didn't care of his ex wife aborted their baby or not I was pretty over it
I often wonder what counts when reviewing a book. My enjoyment? Certainly! The execution? Sure! Is it well written? Great! Does it have to be or feel like something new? What if it is badly written and I like it all the same? Am I as a non native English speaker aware of the subtleties of writing in this language?
My mind circles back to these questions even more when I read romances. Firstly, because it's a genre where the execution matters a lot. We all know the ending and that makes the journey to the HEA the most important bit. Secondly, I am absolutely incapable of reading romances on my native language. Written Portuguese can be so so beautiful, but these love stories, that I love so much, read very cringe to me. I would definitely continue to give lower ratings to romances if I read them on my native language.
Anyway, this brings me to The true love experiment review, and I don't know how to rate it.
Is it well written? Definitely, Christina Lauren are brilliant romance writers and I love their stories. I even liked this one more than the previous release.
Was it well executed? Certainly! I loved the first 30%, and even when I wasn't enjoying the story as much, I was still invested on the journey.
Did it sound like something new? It was a story I never read before. I particularly liked that this book works like and ode to the romance genre and romance readers. It's unfortunate that this genre keeps being underappreciated and
Were the characters interesting and relatable? I liked them both! I liked Connor more on the beginning but ended up liking Fizzy very much.
Why do I have doubts though? I'm just unhappy with the overall love story. Connor never put himself in a vulnerable position and ended with a HEA, while having zero ownership of it. Honestly, I don't think I ever felt so disappointed with a male character, and thus I don't know how to rate it.
Ultimately, I believe a good romance convinces me the couple is perfect for each other and I don't think I am there with this book.
Do I recommend it? Absolutely! The duo is great and I read it in almost one sitting. What didn't work for me might work for other readers
I still love this book so much and also I made Jeananne read it (she's not a romance reader) and I told her if she doesn't love it then I'll probably maybe still be her friend.
I loved this one. I was a little scared as I dit not like the first one in this world (the soulmate equation). But I really connected with the FMC and I shipped the couple from the beginning. I don't think there will be another book interconnected with this universe but I wish there was. The concept of the app and the DNA matching is not seen anywhere else and I love it!!
I really enjoyed this book!! Fizzy was such a great FMC, and the concept of the dating show was really interesting.
This was the perfect summer read! I loved the cross over characters and story line. My Southern California missing heart loved all the So. Cal. Shout outs!

I wanted to love this, but I didn't. I liked the characters, there's just something that didn't work for me. The audiobook narrators were great, the story just fell a bit short.
I have found my new favorite Christina Lauren romance. I have enjoyed almost every book I have read by this author duo, but this one stands out as superior. Both the characters and the plotline are mature and believable, which is refreshing.
This is the story of Fizzy Chen, who we first met in The Soulmate Equation, and Conner Prince III. Fizzy is a romance author who has lost her desire to date and as a result is struggling to write her next novel. Enter Conner Prince III, television producer and single father. Conner needs a leading lady for a new dating reality show, and he believes Fizzy is the perfect choice. The story follows the two before and during the filming of the show as they develop a friendship and try to stifle the obvious attraction they have for each other.
The characters make this book shine for me. It is nice to have two main characters that actually communicate openly and are honest throughout about their expectations and feelings. I am usually frustrated by the miscommunication that often permeates romance novels, but there is none of that in this book. It made my heart so happy to watch these adults behave like adults. They are both relatable and likable, and it was a joy to watch their relationship unfold.
The plot of this romance is not entirely unique, but it is well developed and adds a creative twist to the dating show trope. The DNA dating app introduced in The Soulmate Equation is carried over into this companion novel. The use of romance novel stereotypes is entertaining, with Conner having to cast men who fit the hero types such as “cinnamon role,” “hot nerd,” and “vampire.”
I loved the experience of reading this book and highly recommend it to anyone searching for a romance with adult characters who communicate openly and a fun storyline that keeps you engaged throughout. Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the advance review copy.
